I had some issues a couple years ago with the ac took it to nissan and they did some tests said they couldn't find anything wrong. I just hit 60,000 miles and all of a sudden my ac has completely stopped blowing cold air. I changed filters checked coolant levels and nothing seems to be helping. I have it blowing full blast set on 60 and have tried putting it on auto and it never gets cool. I live in south Georgia so I am about to die. I have read altimas have a problem with the compressor going out with less miles than I have. Any advice on what to do or know what the problem may be?

Is the belt on the compressor properly and tight enough? With the engine off and key ON, when you turn the A/C on, do you hear the compressor clutch click? With the engine running, does the compressor clutch engages and turn? Does the clutch engages and disengage often? If it does engage and disengage often, you likely have a coolant leak and are low on oil and coolant. Unless you know what you're doing, have it checked out by a reputable A/C repair shop or the dealer. You can replace parts yourself to save on labor, but have an A/C shop evacuate your system before repairs and refill it afterwards. They'll usually charge around $30-50 to just purge and fill.

Also you mentioned that you checked coolant levels - coolant cools the engine and is u related to the A/C. A/C refrigerant/oil is self-contained in a pressurized system. If the refrigerant is leaking, youay find some remnants that flow green under UV light to help trace the leak. If it is low, it can be identified with a proper manifold gauge to see the high and low pressure side pressures. That is assuming the compressor works....

If your air conditioner is blowing hot air, then this could be due to blocked condenser or broken Condenser or low refrigerant or broken cooling fans. You must check all these things or take advice from a professional like airdexinc.com about air conditioner repairs.

My ac on my 1999 QX4 just started blowing hot air with the ac on auto; the clutch is working and the system is blue on the gauge for the charge: Any ideas about how to isolate the problem? Also, with the ac off the system blows hot air with the temp control down and the fresh air on; it seems like the temp setting is on high but not by the dial/gauge.

My AC went out and very long story short, it was the electrical connection to the compressor(connector on compressor). Check this first because it's a simple fix, and simple to find situation. Caused me a hell of a time & $ to figure out. I'm sure you've gotten it fixed by now but hope this helps someone else.
