anyone had to replace one and have it updated to the 134 system? MY 91 just blew and sprayed all over the back of the fan. Called around and can get a compressor for 250 new dryer for 20 then got to add in labor, is that about right? Anyone who has had AC replaced on an older d21 chime in please.

I've bought stuff for my Jeep here. Reman compressor=$234, new dryer=$6.29.

If you convert to R-134a, you should change all of the o-rings as well.

What blew?

I called local car quest napa and 3 other parts stores. car quest and napa supply 90% of local mechanics. It is looking like this may cost more than it is worth on such and old truck. MY estimates from shops is looking like 1 grand on a truck I payed 2grand for LOL Going to be a long hot summer if i drive the truck.

Well, it's not cheap to start replacing all sorts of parts. I had my compressor blow on my Cherokee. Cost me about $450 in parts alone. I had to replace the compressor, condenser and dryer. About $80 was for R-12 (expensive stuff) and $15 for my EPA cert (so I could buy R-12). I also bought a vacuum pump and manifold gauges (not included in costs above). Did everything from pulling all the lines, replacing all the o-rings, flushing, vacuuming, and filling.

But cold air on a hot Socal day is Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Yeah I am in alabama it gets hot as hell here. I am looking at about what you did on parts and have a buddy who said he could help make sure it is done right. Seems pretty straight forward to pull and replace compressor dryer and O rings. Problem is the only compressors ar now 134 so i have to do total conversion.

When I was married, she got the Accord, Mazda Minivan, Blazer, and Durango (not at the same time but in that order). I got the D21. Now it's my son's. Been in the family since it rolled off the lot. AC blows @ 38F.
