I just bought a new air filter.I opened up the filter box and noticed alot of loose dirt oon the bottom. My question is can I vacuum it out?I'm not sure if it could have some kind of electronic affect where it could ruin some kind of sensor in the car.I know it sounds funny but,I'm serious.btw autozone blows they didnt carry my filter they have to order it,so i went to pepboys and got a piece of crap puralator airfilter for $26 maybe one day soon I'll stop being a cheap Irish man and buy a K&N

Vacuum cleaner would be fine too... no electronics down there. The first delicate part in the intake is the MAF on the north side of the filter...

Well I got it done, didn't take the bottom out but took top off and hosed it and the air tunnel it conected to.The bottom I just scrubbed it good and clean. The dealer here is a thief,I wouldn't go to him for anything. He gave me a price to change the transmission fluid and diff fluid that was over $500,screw that guy!Tomorrow I change my coolant and change my oil,I'm trying that Mobil 1 extended life

Amen! K&N is for the more gullible among us.

I wash mine in the sink when the wife is gone.
