Passenger air bag light keeps turning on when someone is sitting on it. i see a few of you have this problem... anyone out there have a success with the dealership to get this problem resolved? it would not do it while the service manager was sitting on it... so they were like we are not fixing something that is not broken... well if it does not work correctly... what else do you call that??

Mine used to do this. Some folks found that if the seat is angled a certain way it doesn't do it. I'm not sure if anyone has successfully had the dealer fix the issue.

yeah, mine does that, usually its caused by the person not sitting quite right in the seat, but it really shouldn't happen.

maybe the sensor is in the corner of the seat so if you're not properly sitting back it doesn't know you're there, not sure. but yeah, it doesn't happen with people that weigh more, haha.

My light always comes on when I have my gear bag (8-10lbs) on the seat. It gets irritating but I'm trying to break the habit of placing it there by placing it on the floor instead.

I have always had this ever since I owned my car. People will sit in passenger seat and it will just light up as "off" and stay lit up. Brought it to dealer 3 times and it would not do it for them and they said that all tests came up ok. Even thought I used to work for this dealership (as a salesperson) they refused to believe that it actually does light up as "off". Nissan service is not so good after you purchase your car lol

its funny that this just came up casue i just receviced a recall notice on this. this is what it say for reason for recallthe occupant classification system (a part of the passenger air bag system) in the front passenger seat cushion of your vehicle may have been manufactured out of specification. in some cases, this could deactivate the passenger air bag in your vehicle. if this occurs, the RED air bag warning light will continuously flach after the vehicle is started( it is normal for the red air bag warning lamp to flash for about seven seconds when the vehicle is first started). this could result in the passenger air bag no inflation in a crash, potentially increasing the rish of injury.

and if you vin # has these #1N4xxxxxxxCxxxxxxthen you have that problem nissan i supposed to replace whatever is broken for free. hope this helps

There was a recall notice ... the news reported that it was a voluntary recall that covered 2007 and 2008 Nissan Altima, Altima Coupe, 350Z, Murano and Rogue; and Infiniti G35 Sedan, G37 Coupe and EX35 built from March 12, 2007 to May 27, 2008.

The recall notices that I found were called:

NHTSA #: 08V-521

NTB08-095a (and "c") 2007–2009 VARIOUS NISSAN MODELS; VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN PASSENGER AIR BAG OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS).pdf

which covered:

2007 – 2008 Altima Sedan and Hybrid (L32 and L32HV)2008 Altima Coupe (CL32)2009 Murano (Z51)2008 Rogue (S35)2007 – 2008 350Z (Z33) Coupe and Roadster

I did not see a VIN range, but you can google search the #'s above to read more.

Hope this helps.

I brought my car for that recall. They said it passed everything and yet still the same problem persists. I hope I don't have to prove it to them the hard way (ie. crash) loll
