So, it's been a while since I have been on this site. But last week, my air bag light came on and I brought it into the dealer. They told me that the air bag system is "opened". But they can't tell me exactly what the issue is. So they said start with the cheaper repair ($400.00) then if that not works then we go for the big one: $950.

So......... $1350.00 and "HOPEFULLY" all is fixed!

:wtf2:

ANY ADVICE???

Red air bag light flashing on and off with the B1054 code!

the system being "opened" means that the airbag control unit has lost connection to a sensor or airbag itself.

Answer me these questions and you can probably fix the problem with some info:
1. What has changed?
2. Has anything been repaired or changed out?

They are probably going to find all the sensors and check they are plugged in correctly. That means the one behind your front bumper and then the ones on each side of the car.

Check the seat wires underneath the drivers seat and passenger seat especially if you stuff things under the seats. I believe the yellow colored wires are with the airbag sensing. I know my son's airbag light was caused by placing items under the passenger seat which disconnected a wire.

Hello,

Nothing has changed. My wife has been driving it under normal conditions. I am not using to teach driving for the past 6 months. And No repairs done for a long long time.

They checked out the wiring and all looked fine. Now they want to change some wire then the air bag it self.

Man............

Personal opinion, I'd ignore it and keep driving it. As long as my seat belts were working, that would be all I care about. If people can survive car crashes in the 70s-90s without air bags, I think we certainly can survive without them too. :chuckle:

I agree silverarrow, but in all honesty, i buy salvage cars and i know which cars actually depoly their air bags. Let me tell you, the nissan versa is a car that deploys atleast one air bag and this is why they become totaled so easily. Finding a Versa that is totalled and none of the air bags deployed is VERY hard. I found only one so far from almost 450 totalled versas in the country. What this means is that these cars are VERY safe, and the air bags are very efficient. Ive seen corollas, civics that just get trashed, or even roll over and the air bags dont deploy. Im having the same problem with this versa i have now, since the shop that the insurance company took my car to, actually took pieces off my car, now i have to find what sensors they disconected, It is not so hard though. I have my light on but it is all just finding the sensor that is disconected. Front bumper, both sides of the car, and rear bumper have sensors. Find them, unplung them and plug them back in (With the car off) and see if it works. It has worked so far for me.
