Greetings all. This is one of a few post I am planning on presenting to help others out with simular problems.

I have had a flashing Air Bag light for the last 3 years. I have been just ignoring the light since the dealer told me that I needed a new airbag module that cost around $800. Not wanting to spend that kind of money, I purchased a NIssan 240SX Service Manual and ran the system in disgnostic mode which should indicate the malfunctioning part. The results indicated that no malfuntion was detected. I then returned the system to user mode which resets the light and it has not come back on since. I am here to tell you that I was just about to give up and spend the money to get this problem fixed. (I got tired of explaining the light to everyone). If the light doesn't return I am considering this a huge savings!

Just some helpful information.

I didn't use the consult, I just followed the procedure to get the system into the diagnosis mode and counted the number of flashes and flash pattern. e.g., 3 seconds on 2 seconds off. This indicated that no malfunction was detected or that the problem is intermittent. When I returned the car to user mode and started it the light stayed out.

One thing to note is that when I did this the first time and did NOT start the car the light was flashing when I started the car later. I later read online that you have to start the car and that seem to fix the problem. I don't if this has anything to do with it...the book only said to do everything with the ignition switch in ON.
