Hey everyone I just wanted to know how to fix this situation. I been driving for 6 months now with my air bag light blinking. We said that it might be a loose wire somewhere but I'm not sure..Can anyone help me out . If so it'll be great..I have a '95 240sx by the way..

Theres a problem with the SRS system. You can have the light reset or get the problem fixed. It could be a sensor problem, or old wiring...get it checked out soon.

check the FSM for the blinking pattern. (3 long blinks, 2 short, 1 blink every second or something like that)

I took my car to the mechanic for a "Check Engine" and the SOB triggered the "Disgnostic Mode" on the SRS System, i was scared since i didn't want my car as a christmas tree with all the warnings on it.

In the end it was only in diagnostic mode and nothing real bad.

A year ago my air bag light started blinking, so I took it to a Nissan dealer to get it checked out. It cost me $70 for them to tell me I needed a $720 air bag module and another $150 for them to change it. I found one on Ebay, and figured What the Hey? I'll take a chance that it is still good and not a ripoff. I paid like $80 and changed it myself. It fixed the problem.

Ok hope this gets to every one. In the air bag system on EVERY nissan and infiniti there are 3 places for codes:one is for current. anything in this section when checking with consult is failing right now and needs to be fixed.

another is past. this is a code that was stored at some point and is now not failing since it is not in current(unless it is in current now)

the third is history. this will only store a code if one was erased with consult. it essentially moves the code from past to history.

the light will only illuminate if a code is stored in current OR past but will not illuminate if there is only a code in history.

the control unit code is usually set when the diagnostic sensor unit(airbag control unit) recieves less then 9 volts when the key is in the on position. if you had a battery go dead on you it can trigger that code. rule of thumb on that code. If it is not in history already and is not in current but only in past you can have them perform the erase procedure and the code will be filed in the history section and the light will shut off. timos240 your code was in past I am sure. when that code started popping up nissan was back and forth with it in TSB's first they said in one if the code was present to replace the control unit. then they revised the bulliten and said to just clear the code if it wasent in history already, then they revised it to just say "follow the service manual recommendations" which almost always says on any air bag codes to check the harness if ok replace the part. there are no diagnostic procedures in the FSM or specs for airbag components. it is a parts hanging procedure. But after a little research of my own when talking to techs on techline and speaking to instructors at tech school. I came up with the reason for the code as mentioned above.Zenki I recommend you go to the dealer, have them pull the codes and ask them to print out the results in all three sections and show it to you. if you only see "control unit" in past tell them all you want them to do is erase the code. and be done with it. if it is some other code then you may want to persue why it threw a code. these codes are all open or short codes. so if you remember unplugging something with a yellow connector that may be the reason for the code.

Is there a way for us to erase the codes? I asume that it can only be done with the consult terminal. What about unhooking the battery? My friends s14 does this and he just had a dead battery but the car is in storage so he hasnt changed it yet.

the codes are burned into a chip in the control unit. disconnecting the battery wont clear the codes. they have to be erased by scan tool. I am not sure but the snap on scanner may have the ability to erase airbag codes.

zenki I see your from the sacramento area so you will probably be looking at about $95 to have it looked at and cleared at a dealer. That is the going rate around the sac area. It is at my dealership.
