Air Bag lamp flashing

Hi all,

Does anyone know what is wrong when the Air Bag lamp starts to flash continiously? I've owned a I30 and now a J30 and around 125k to 150K miles the lamp goes on. Thanks!

Try this .

With the drivers door open..Turn the key the whole way on but dont start.and quickly hit the door open switch down at the bottom rear of the door jamb about 10 times as fast as you can.Then turn the key off and then start it up.That reset's the airbag computer.

The switch I found is black nipple shape attached to the body and not to the door. I tried your inst. but still flashing. I did not get your message till late tonight but will try again tomorrow a few more times.

You have to hit it VERY fast .Just as soon as you turn the key to on.

If the airbag lamp doesn't reset from the method that Yoda has described, it could be that something seriously is wrong. Take the J in for a consult. You don't want to be driving around with a suspect airbag. Sometimes they go off without warning.

tried again this morning and same result still flashing. then drove to the laundry mat (ex wife took the wash/dry mach.) and tried again at the parking lot and the lamp when off! don't know if the car needed to be driven a bit or just faster speed and sequence but did again what yoda said and it worked!

Thanks again to yoda and this website another problem solve. I'm biggening to like my J30. I will like her more if I can make the commitment and guts to do the timing belt.

the flahing airbag lamp is back after just over a month. seems to happen when the weather is hot, 100 deg. or above. will try again the fix.

That light has been flashing at me for a while now.

The first time I tried to reset, it did not work, but tried a second time and it reset fine.
