That sucks man :( Are you ONLY interested in a Jeep? I've seen quite a few isuzu rodeos, pathfinders, blazers etc. in that price range in the area! Oh, and in your sig, Hence is the right spelling ;) Good luck!

Tom - a $3K Cherokee is about 100 miles from becoming a parts car.

I'd consider an old Pathy or 4Runner. Transmissions on the Cherokee were Renault ('nuff said).

hehe. An illiterate job applicant..lol. I like the cherokee alot. I've looked at some pathfinders but they were all riced out. Lowered with spoke wheels and crap. I want something i can at least get out of a mud puddle with. I'd like to stick with nissan but a cherokee is gonna be the best bet because the body style never really changed so it wont look very old. They're awesome for back woods stuff. My friend has one and he loves the hell out of it. Hopefully i'll find one this week.

Yeah the AT&T deal will take a while to unwind. But if you know a bomb is going to explode between a certain time frame, are you gonna stick around to be there when it happens. Looking for a job sucks, but looking for a job when you don't have a job sucks even more. I figured i'd get ahead of the stampede and get the word out that im qualified and able. YA HEARD! hehe.

Use the 3k as down payment. I mean, if thats all you -really- -have- to spend, total, an old Cherokee isn't so wise.

Well... at least you arent buying a Bronco or Explorer.

HAHAHAH! Yeah right. I can finance but Im 19, in Dallas. Full Covg. Insurance would slay me! I called on full covg. for my 240. They wanted $420 a mo. Um HOW BOUT NO. I have to buy a cash car. My rent is $650 a mo. plus other random bills. I can't afford a new car with what i make. Comfortably anyway.

I noticed you work for AT&T and they are firing 4600 people. Im gonig to cancel my membership with them this july when my contract expires. I can't stand these damn greedy companies doing that to their own workers. FUK NAFTA

Around here you can find all sorts of **** for under $3000. We just found a Suzuki Samurai for $1000 that we plan on getting. I know of at least 2 240SX's under $1000 at any one time. As for Jeeps, people just think there worth more than they are. I know a guy trying to sell a beat up, half asss running 88 Wrangler for $5000. He only paid $100 for it

Dear god the search continues. Yesterday i went to look at a K-5 Blazer. 1980. It had a 7 inch lift with 36in super swampers. Well i show up at the guys house to look at it and he gets in it all gentle like. Starts it up and runs like a kitten. Well a Bengel Tiger to be more honest. Big motor, no mufflers. Loud as shiz. I go to get in it, plop down on the drivers seat and fall throw the damn floor. The whole seat caved through. The entire interior was flooded at one point and rusted completely through the body. I look down and my right foot was right next to the transmission. WTF? I was like, um......$1500 is a good deal an all, but i think i have to pass at this point. What a hunk of shiz. We pull up to a gas station as we were leaving Ft. Worth, where the K5 was, and a cherokee pulls up. I ask em if they wanna sell it. They did so i looked at it. It's an 88 with 240k (omen right there) ac, 4X4 good condition, no body work that i could tell. Needed a rear end seal is all. Ac blew cold, heater worked. Blue with light blue interior. Very retro. I asked the girl how much they wanted for it, she says, "Well my husbands asking a $1000 but i only want $800 for it." OMG!! I tried to hold back my amazement as much as i could. I offered her cash on the spot. She said she had to confer with her husband. So she's gonna call me back today and let me know. Wish me luck guys. That's a deal and a half! $800 for a running car. With all the cash left over i could throw a swap in there. Say a Small block 350 or something of that nature. ONE BAD Cherokee. Anyways, back to preying for cherokee rain, <<tom>>

The $41 billion for AT&T wireless is obscene! I heard that Cingular could build 10 complete nationwide systems for the same amount of dough.

No use in building if you don't have anywhere to build. They wanted our tower locations and coverage. This WILL make them the leader in widest coverage, clearest signal, and overall customer contracts. They'll have around 50 million cust once they combine with ours.

I guess the mantra in the deal was "locations, locations, locations".

Here's your opportunity to do your own thing. Will you get a severance package? Look around for something you enjoy or can sort of enjoy and go for it. Here in Tampa we have seen a lot of down-sizing and good people out of work that have started their own businesses. Only being 19 can be an advantage. I know guys that make 200.00 a day scrounging pallets, for God's sake!Get a little MIG welder and a few tools and make truck racks. 25.00 worth of steel equals a 300.00 product. Get creative and find something. The only job security that exists is when you are in control.

True that brotha! It's not everyday that people fire themselves. Im definately looking into my own business. My brother is the used car manager for a dealer ship here in dallas. He buys tons of cars and i always have to help to move them. I figure i hire a couple guys to help me drive and charge $50 a pop for moving cars. Not a bad idea. Still in the works tho.

If your brother can get you into salvage auctions, go take a look there. All kinds of donor cars will come by that you can resell for GOOD money. Just saw a new 350z go for 2600 on e-bay. That guy probably gave 1000.00 to 1500.00 for that wreck. I've seen them at the auction yards, and it's hard to believe what they auction off for. You might have a lot of fun and make serious money and make a lot of new friends here! Take a chance, go for it!

I tag along with my bro to the wholesale auctions every now and then and see some very non donor perfect 240s go through for 2500 and 4000. Everybody is older out there and doesn't know what they are. I've just never had the money to buy one and turn in around to make money on.

ON another note. I did pick up that 88 cherokee 4X4, 4.0L, 4 Door. She's a nice rig. Needs a rear main seal and leaks like a siv right now but, that's an easy fix. I know a guy who will do it for $300. I picked up the rig for $1000 because the guy already had it sold to another person for $900. Not bad, i'd say. She's a fixer upper but needs absolutely NO body work. Im happy with the purchase. I'll take some pics and post em.

Thanks Dan. I was so relieved to find it. And the girl i bought it from, her daughter...OMG SERIOUSLY! On a scale from 1-10. She was a fu(kin 20! Holy s***. I did the whole double take and about broke my neck. She was drop dead gorgeous. I put my skills to work and we chatted for a bit. I got the number and I want to call her, but 1 hour of earth seperates me and some damn fine good.....well.. you know. Friggin earth. WHY YOU GOTTA WASTE MY FLAVA! That's a long damn drive man. Maybe i'll move to Ft. Worth. Now there's an idea. :ylsuper

Tom - I could not be more sorry that you and 4599 others are losing their jobs. NO benifit to att customers or to business can equal what they are doing to you guys.

but at the same time i am SO glad that someone boughtout att, as an att customer i was just waiting for my contrat to expire to get rid of this phone. Horrible coverage, expensive plans, the worst customer service i've ever had to deal with. Cingular can only be an improvement. I only wish that it could have been done without the 'elimination' of 4600 jobs.

I swear to god it's almost worth the hour drive to go back and get some hot pics. You guys have no idea how incredibly hot she is. I still got her number. I think once i get the cherokee fixed i'll tell her im a talent scout for some local magazines and see if i can't SWING by (pun intended) and get some "interview" shots. Damn that'd be sweet. You guys have no idea. I can't stop thinkin about the hotness. I think it may be time for a new avatar anyway. [new weekend project]:ylsuper
