Aiming Headlights

I have a 1997 240SX and I just replaced the stock low beams headbulbs with aftermarket H1 type. My right low beam has a focal point for the light where you can see a bright dot when the light shines off of the garage door, but my left one doesn't seem to have the focal point. Could it be possible that the left one was installed upside down? I ask this because when I drive, the left side doesn't light up as much due to the lack of the focal point. I've already tried adjusting the beam with the vertical and horizontal adjustment knobs. THe horizontal adjustment knob doesn't move the beam at all. Anyone ever have this problem? Again, it is a 1997 240 which uses a H1 type replacement bulb.....thanks!!
