HELP! Cranks perfectly but won't start! 280K, runs perfectly (when it did), what could it be? '89,

my guesses all go towards fuel pump? timing chain?

You can really have a vaccume leak, a fuel or spark problem thats about it.

First check all fuses for blown ones.

You can check for fuel pressure by removing the inlet hose to the fuel filter and pointing it towards a bucket. If fuel comes out upon ignition on then the pump is pumping.

Remove a plug or get a spare plug leave it on the wire and touch the threads to the engine to ground it. If it sparks then both are good and start checking major vaccume lines.

The brakebooster vaccume line likes to crack over time, and will allow the car to run but start funny or not start al all.

Start from there and work your way deeper

I had a similar problem. Turned out my one of my ground wires got screwed up. Replaced it and started right up.
