okay well..

I got t-boned by some f*****. It was completely his fault and he got charged.

I was driving down a street, and a truck was at a stop sign on one of the streets on the right, and he didnt yield oncomming traffic and slammed me.

hard 2 explain, but my car is ****ed up large.. complete passenger side is caved in.. i doubt insurance will fix it.

NOW!

how much do you think insurance will give me for my car.

keep in mind..

it was his fault, he got charged, so his insurance pays.

ok

it was a

1991 Fastback SE115,000 km on the engine (im canadian, i think thats like 75,000 miles)Mint condition, no rust, paint still shines...new exhaust, (full cat back piping)

the car is in mint condition...

and i wanna know how much they will give me, so i can buy a new one!

:)

thanks

bye

blue book value if its a total loss (cost more to fix than the bluebook value to repair) which im sure this is a total loss if its as bad as youve described. youll get like 2 grand give or take a few hundred. i think

If you think he paid too much, even though the age of the car, most early 90s 240sx's here in Alberta go for what he paid for, with alot more mileage.

They usually sell around 4k-6k, his has low miles as well so it was a rare find for around here. Its all the market and where you live, cars in my area sell for higher than the same vehicle south.

Basing a one generic value on a car no matter where its located is not logical, because where I am with hardly any city traffic exposure and all highway driving, a car here would normally be in much better shape than its equivalent in a large city. Here 4x4 trucks go for an absolute mint, its ridiculous actually.

Not tryin to start a flame war but if you seen what 240s went for in my province you would quickly decide against getting one. Unless you stumbled across a 350US gem like I did :D

Edit: based on his location he should have really jumped the border and grabbed one of many 95+ 240sxs I see on ebay going for what he bought his 91 for.

my advice, stay awya from a city driven ottawa one, grab one from alberta. I've seen some with less miles going for less out this way.

keep checking, and very sorry to hear about your car.

Holisticbeatz is a little harsh, but he's telling it like it is. You will get screwed by insurance, end of story.

For being 16, he already seems to have a hang of that understanding.

I had a POS B12 Sentra (1989, 140,000 miles) that puked oil and could use a transmission rebuild. If I cleaned it up, I would be able to get at the very most, if I was lucky $1000. Some a55hole in a lifted Toyota pickup didn't look before changing lanes, and pushed my car into the median wall. All it ended up with was some fender damage and rubber marks from his tire. His insurance company called it a total loss, and gave me $2200 for it, but I bought it back for $300.

Your situation might be different because your car was in good condition, so you might end up with less, but the insurance company has to give you fair market value for your area. Then they add on more if you have low mileage, new tires, premium wheels, nice stereo, etc. You can also buy it back cheap and part it out.

You might get screwed, you might get lucky. The insurance companies don't neccessarily look to screw you for having to pay you money, alot of times they look to screw the idiot they're insuring by raising his rates. But sometimes they do screw you.

It really isn't fair to speculate. I don't think anyone here is an insurance agent. The only way you're going to find out is to get it done.

I was in a similar situation around Halloween of last year.I had recently bought my 89 hatch and was at a stoplight when the focus in front of me decided it was a good idea to go into reverse and floor it, not realizing I was there somehow.....Short long of it is, Isurance company tried to **** me, give what they deemed the value of the car was and not fix it. Well I paid 1200 for it with a couple unsightly dents in it when I first bought it. State Farm gave me 2700. I know a body guy that just started out, gave him 1100 and got a brand new paint job and ALL the body work done.Sometimes sh1t works out, maybe you'll find another S13 for a nice price.....and my condolences. :(

ok well

insurance gave me 5500 for her.

I went and looked at a 1993 infinti j30t for 6700 canadian incl. taxes ( tax is 15% here in ontario)

it looks like im gonna buy it.

im going to put a down payment tommorrow, so if you guys could let me know what 2 look for before buying it. (problems)

i saw it today, looked good, drove awesome.

the "hicas" light kept coming on when i was driving it. What does that mean? is it serious?

thanks

Is your front bumper still intact??? Can I buy it off you???

I bought my 1990 240sx fastback with 220,000km for $1200 Canadian. It needs body work and a paint job and one part of the main frame is rusted really badly (almost to the point of breaking). Other than that there is a whole bunch of easy fix problems on the car ex. door locks, lighter loose.

so.... my car $1200 plus body work/paint job $1400 and frame $300. equals $2900

Please excuse my bluntness. I know what it's like to be in Kevin's situation. At least you got $5500 for it and you'll be picking up that J30 real soon, so I guess everything works out.

Good luck on rebuilding and drive safe.
