KA24DE 110k miles. Tune up done 4 months ago. The other day i went on some arrons. The car started up and ran just fine. I drove around for about 45 min. I got out for 10 min and got back in. When i started it back up it was running really funny. I went i started to move there was no power. No HP and no Torque. I would have lost in a race to a geo. When idel the car shakes pretty hard. I am not driving untill i fix it. My first thought is electircal. I put new spark plug wiries in and no fix. I put a new distributor cap on and vwala. Ran great. Drove for 5 min no problem. I parked for 1 hour and drove again. 1/2 mile later....... same problem. I did a compression test on the first 2 cylinders and they are good. I will do the other 2 but i have the fitting stuck in #2.

I have been told it could be something more with the igniton system.I was also told it could be the fuel filter or fuel injectors. And last i was told it could be my headgasket but just so you know i have no mixture between my coolant and oil. and its not overheating.

Sorry for this being so long but i want you to know all the facts.Help! what do you think it is?

LOL... this to me happen so many times... If it wasn't a sparkplug/wire, it was ALWAYS one of my injectors (3 out of 4 times!). I've replaced 3 of them! Hell, of 'em is from an Altima! And yes, I got owned by a geo at the time too... BUT NO MORE!!! lol

Okay, if you have a shaking issue with severe power loss and you have VISUALLY checked the spark at each plug, it will be your #1 OR your #4 injector.

You really need to search before posting questions like this, this question about shaking and power loss has been posted at least 4 times in the last month...

Also, I might add, you do not own a RPS13!!! The "P" in the chassis code means the car has a factory SR20DET motor, not a factory KA24DE!!! NO 240SX's are RPS models, ever. Please change your profile...

Actually, I'm gonna rescind my comment about the sr24det being a pipedream... I just saw a brian crower ad for the sr 2.31L stroker kit...

And the ka loses the one advantage it had...

Meh I don't like the stroker kit. And I wouldn't consider KA's long stroke as an advantage, it prevents it from revving high as the other engines. (But it gives torque, which is pretty sexy )

The 2.3L stroker kit won't be a very streetable or stable conversion. The KA will still have more reliability and still has more displacement stock, now quit comparing motors before you get banned!

Please refrain from complaining about anything but my problem. I have already explained why my name is the way that it is and as for my car, i dont think its hurting you. On to the reason for my post.

So everyone is in agreement that its most likely my injectors. Is there anyway to tell which one it might be? or do i have to replace them all?

unplug each injector as its running to see if it runs any differently

I was helping you fix multiple problems. One of them just happens to be you think your car is an RPS13, and it is not. It is an RMS13. If you would change your profile to fix that problem, then maybe people would stop[ laughing at you. I don't care about your s/n tho, it's cute.

As for your injector problem, I need to expand on White Comet's useless monosyllabic caveman grunts:Unplug each injector until you find the one that does not make the motor run any worse than it does now; the one that does not make any change to the idle pattern. As said before, this will be the #1 or the #4 injector due to the shaking you are experiencing. Here is a reference from the past... zer...67085

That should explain it all.

Ok i only need one more thing to finish this project. I tested it and found out that its the #4 fuel injector. Now i spent a long time today trying to get it out. I called a buddy of mine and he said just keep pulling. I took the two screws out and the cap off. I know it just pulls out, but is there any easy ways of doing it. Can someone that has done this give me a good way to remove it. I have a spare one that i took off the other engine i have but i have the rail out and i turned it over and used a punch and knocked it out with a hammer. I cant do that in this case and i ripped on it all day. any advice? sorry for really milking this

Squirt some WD-40 all around the injector, it will pull right out.

ok i will try one more time tomarrow. Yes i have the fuel rail loose but i didnt try the wd-40. That will be the first thing i try tomarrow. I have a second engine which im doing a build on and i dont need the injectors cause im using 750cc for that engine so i took the rail off the other engine, unscrewed it and after 20 min of pulling i fliped it over and hit the bottom of the injector with a hammer to get it out. Its out and looks fine but the injector in the engine in my car is the real problem. Hopefully WD-40 to the rescue.

I was sapose to go drifting today with my crew but 3 cyclinders isnt enough power to kick it sideways. This scar will not heal......... until the next time

DO NOT flip your fuel rail over and hit the injector with a hammer. You will break or damage the pintle cap on the tip of the injector and you need that for the injector to work properly.

If you have done this to an injector already, do not use the one that you hit with the hammer.

Why the heck did you do that anyway? Do you bang on your TV with a hammer when the reception gets bad? LOL Geezus, it's an electrical part, not a freaking engine block.

It looks fine but looking back on it i realize it wasnt the smartest choice to make but i have spent all week trying to get my car up and running for the weekend and when i spent all day today and realized that i wouldnt be able to go drifting i got mad and used the extension for my socket, placed it over the bottom of the injector and hit it with a hammer. after a few raps it came out. I know that it wasnt the smartest thing but come on, you work on your car, sometimes you just get mad and have to hit something. lol

I guess ill use the wd-40 on the engine and ill take one of the other 3 fuel injectors off the other rail.

lol no i just meant that if i took a hammer to the radiator it woudl have more damage than to the injector lol
