Ok, first of all, sorry its been so long since my last posting... been working like a mad dog....

Second, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced probs with their Q45s getting REALLY bad gas mileage, my 92 is sitting at just above half a tank, at 88 miles... yes... 88 miles to half a tank... whats up???

Are you saying your Q uses a documented 11.25 gallons in 88 miles [7.8 MPG] or that your incorrect reading interior gauge drops to the midpoint in 88 miles?Rural City MPG is either 15 or 17 depending on model obviously real city nightmare traffic with AC on could be as low as 12-13 mpg.

Usual culprits are leaking injectors or the MAF and or its connections or extremely low compression forcing wide throttle openings.

No sooty exhaust Fred, and I am unsure as to whether or not the gauge is reading incorrectly or not, although, this is the FIRST time that it has ever done this to me, has always been very accurate until now. But an even more frustrating situation, is the fact that I need a new alternator, as my lights inside the car(TCS, SLIP, Antilock, Brake) keep flickering on and off, and the display shows "Low Battery Charge" anytime the car is under 1k rpm.

Fix the alt first, then worry about the gas gauge. Bad alts cause weird things to happen in the electrical system.

The injector open time is corrected UPWARD as the ecu reference voltage falls from 13.4 volts to compensate for low voltage at cranking this could cut mpg in half depending.
