i know this isnt a 240sx, but i think the clutch system might be similar.

i was driving on my lunch break today, and when i go to shift to 3rd, my clutch pedal sunk all the way in, and didnt spring back. it was stuck all the way in.

i can pop it back, but now it has no pressure, it just pushes in without disengaging the clutch itself.

i dont know the system well enough, but is it hydrolic? what could the problem be? is there a slave cylinder for it?

anyone have this problem before?

its a 1990 GTR, just incase there was different clutch system for different years.

hows it going, I had the same issue on my 240 sx. I tried replaceing the slave cylinder,it help for a little while but was not a complete fix.. i changed the master clutch cylinder and that was the main issue, f.y.i make sure you prime the master first as it is a real pain in the butt if you do not!! also rinse off the brake fluid a.s.a.p as it will eat paint!!

thanks for the response.

when this happened today, i knew zero about hydraulic clutches (ive only worked on cable clutches). i did a good 4 hours of research, and i think i can fix the problem.

im going to look at the parking spot i left the car in overnight, and see where the fluid is dripping from. then attack the problem from there.

plus, our local GTR guru is going to come help me fix it :D

no offense intended here

hydraulic clutches are really easy/simple, once you actually look at it, you will understand completlyits almost exactly like your brakes (if non-ABS) )where you have your master cylinder, then just a hydraulic line, and then (i think skylines have this) a dampener box, then more line and then the slave cylinder

this is the perfect opportunity to remove the dampener box (if you have it)just unbolt the hoses from it, and unbolt ilikecookies the dampener box from the frame, just bend the hardline from the master cylinder around and screw it into the line going to the slave cylinder.. toss the dampener in your spare parts or trash bin

then also perfect time to flush your fluid, get all the old stuff out of your resovior that you can, and fill with new dot 3 brake fluid, unbolt the bleeder screw, and just keep pumping until clear fluid comes out (youll have to refill the resovior 2-3 times while the new fluid replaces the old in your lines)

removing the dampener box gives you a more direct feel for the clutch (along with adding a stainless line)

I was thinking of getting a cold air kit, don't know that much about it though, can you tell me what are the pro's and con's and what are the difference between the higher priced ones and the lower priced ones (other than the k&n filter) thanx for you help!!!!!

ok, problem was fixed early the next morning after i posted that. there was no hydraulic problems.

the problem was that, whoever did the Nismo twin-plate clutch install, didnt properly reattach the 'clutch fork' (no idea if thats the right word for it). but basically the piston wasnt even pressing on this fork.

lost a bit of brake fluid, but its all topped off.

i didnt do any of the troubleshooting, i had our local skyline guru do it all. he knows alot about these cars. good thing we have guys like him, theres like 20 skylines in our small town alone.

im going to remove that dampener dealie (my guy calls it a 'sqaush box'). im also getting rid of the abs, and doing all stainless lines on the clutch and brake bits.

i really dont know enough about hydraulic clutches, ive only ever worked on cable clutches.

thanks for the info btw
