well, i think i found out the reason for my low compression and my car running like a$$.

when i took apart the front of the motor, the small timing gear, had moved a bit, bent the key in the keyway, and therefore allowed for about 20 degrees or so of play....so im pretty sure that had a play on my low compression. Anyways, its getting a hone, new rings, and getting re-assembled. did anybody ever have this happen with a key bending? very strange.

other question, can you re-use a cometic metal headgasket?

thx alot all.

big time problem on the early miata's. You could have snapped the nose right off you crank if you let it go much longer.

I did this in my 88 Plymouth Reliant...K-car...the keyway only went halfway through the gear, on the crank, so I extended the keyway and put some JB weld in there.
