so iv been looking for a driveshaft for my truck for what seems like forever! and not a single yard in san diego has it! well a member here 88hb gave me one and sure enough it doesnt fit its from another year drove 140 miles today for nothing..... and the factory replacement is $600 F that.

i have two questions.

1) on the front driveshaft 1/2 does the flange unbolt? (the flange closest to the carrier)theres a bolt in there with a little pinch collar thing and if i undo that will the flange come off?

2) why are these so hard to find?

Why does the whole thing need to be replaced again? I thought I remember someone on Infamous saying that he had some individual components replaced.

This is an ugly situation - but ugliness is the mother of invention, and being broke is the father.

yea theres a kit where you have to punch the old u-joint out and grind down the stakes and press the new one in but it almost never turns out right.

If you are in CA you should know about California MiniTruck, the wrecking yard where I got my fuel tank from. Seriously check them out.

Call them for a quote.

Hey pejsa, did you need one out of a 4x4 or a 2wd pickup. there is an '88 2wd sitting at the pull-a-part down here. I don'tknow if the drive shafts are still in it but I can go check it out for you and also do you think an'89 would work cause there are two or three sitting there too. I think they are about $20 or $25 a piece. so if it is both pieces you need it would be $40 plus shipping. Hit me up and let me know.

Find a custom driveline shop and have them rebuild the one you have. Should be half the cost of a new one from Nissan.

OK I'll go take a look and see what I can find...Does it have to be an '88 or will an '89 work too. If so we might have some options.
