Anyway, since it looks like with the Sirius/XM merger you actually ahve to get a new radio to do a la carte, or even get best of's, I was wondering what the limitiation of the Stock BOSE Nav unit was, meaning am I stuck with XM offerings only or is it possible to do a la carte (I doubt it) or best of Sirius with the stock Bose nav XM unit? I can;t get a straight answer from Sirius (I have a sportster 5, sportster 4 and 2 sportster replays on my account, but would like to use the BOSE system, just to unclutter the car, the Sportster 5 and 4 is comkpatible with best of XM but not a la carte) This whole thing eats it, since I have my beloved WDVE again I barely listen to sat anymore anyway... how about a HD radio that is invisible to the BOSE unit?

i got XM for the 3 free months and let it expire. now XM called me and offered me the "a la carte" options of the sirius stations. im not sure if the girl knew what she was talking about because when i asked her if i could just add the radio to my acct with sirius( i also have like 4-5 radios) she had no idea and said call sirius. i would like to be able to get howard stern on my BOSE system in my A/C. i know that i have not answered your question but i will say that XM offered me the a la carte/best of option. i am calling sirius this week to find out whats up.

on a side note, why the f**k do i have to call 2 different customer services if the 2 companies merged.

I hear ya, is the company merged or what, as far as the stockholders care they are ALMOST DELISTED, yikes!...let me know how things work out, I'll do another inquiry too...

also I was wondering if there is a HD-radio add-on that plugs into our BOSE Nav units, that's be cool.

Yeah, I'm curious as well. I renewed my XM account in the beginning of the year for like half the price. So what does the a la carte option get you?

Well for 6.99 you can pick 50 music or talk radio or other channels and additional are 25 cents per channels BUT that doesn;t get you live sports or premiums such as Howard Stern, and others check out sirius.xom to get the info, looks like you XM has added sirius exclusive stuff...actually looking at the HD offerings being in Pittsburgh looks like a a better option, but I don't want a plug and play I want something that works with my sock BOSE and is invisible.

Wow, I can't believe you guys haven't hooked this up yet!!

Basically you can get sirius channels on your stock unit (ala carte or best of sirius). This is true of ALL hardware for XM/Sirius. (I think some standalone players might need an update though).

I'm really surprised there seems to be such confustion from xm/sirius as well... I'm not sure about getting full blown sirius only on your radio, I would assume that's possible, but I haven't done it.

I do however have XM with best of sirius (playboy, howard's 2 stations, martha stewart, football, and I think that's it) for 15.99 a month for everything. Now that I think about it, I should look into getting just sirius, as XM doesn't really have anything appealing.

Ok so yes, I can get Best of XM on all my Sirius radios and can get XM with best of Sirius on my BOSE Nav Unit, but here's the kicker, I like the Sirius music and talk and comedy better than XM, and of course the Sirius side has all the live stuff/sports etc..I know they are getting rid of duplicate channels eventually but for now I'll wait see what happens.

Give sirius a call, and see if you can activate/register your bose system with them. The Sirius/XM signals are clearly open to either signal now, so I would imagine you could get just Sirius on our units.

Be the guinea pig, give sirius a call, provide your unit info (I wouldn't even get into the fact that you have an XM unit) and see if it works, I would imagine there's a pretty large probability it will.

Not true, here's how it works for older (everything made before March 2008 X< and Sirius equipment)....XM and Sirius duplicate transmissions on each satelllite terrestrially...ok let's use an example...

Howard Stern: Sirius beams that over to XM terrestrially who then sends it up to XM's satellite and re-trasmits on channel XM 100

this is mutual, best of sirius/best of XM, you will never be able to get a la carte on this equipment...

SO on our BOSE units here's the deal, you can get the following ONLY:

XM Everything Plus The Best of SIRIUS 16.99/mo

Family Friendly Plus The Best of SIRIUS 14.99/mo

XM Everything (what you always got with XM) 12.99/mo

Family Firendly 11.99/mo

MOstly Music (all XM) 9.99/mo

News Sprts and talk 9.99/mo ....

basically XM everything is 12.99 and is XM MUsic and XM sports and talk combined, no Sirius at all....this woin whole merger is pissing me off, f'em I'm out goin HD radio and dealin with the commercials for free...yeah a lot less but XM/Sirius is on the verge of death but I think will survive once everyine starts buying intonew sat radios, A la carte is great but is f'n we early birds, i'll come back someday...but I am letting my sub run-out and cancelling,

Anyone want a Sportster 5, boombox, home and car kit? 125 bucks shipped "all of Sirius" Sub good until 6/27/09...email me
