I’m now a proud owner of a 2008 G35XS. This is where I shift the gear from car buying to the more exhilarating car modding gear. If I do end up with some mods, it would be my first time, so I can use all the help I can get … here’s my wishlist.

1. I used to own a coupe and loved the roar of the engine... so my first mod should be something that gives a deeper tone to the engine's voice. What should I do to achieve this?

2. A more aggressive hood. Perhaps just an add-on hood scoop? My fear though is that it might interfere with the dynamics of the car... I’m even open to replacing the entire hood if necessary, but again will it affect the dynamics/handling of the car otherwise?

3. This baby has great bucket seats, really neat graphite leather. But lately I’ve been craving for a red/black combo sport seat... Initially I was thinking of seat covers, but then what happens to the perforations, the seat heater and all.... SO now I'm lost, is there anything I could do, short of replacing the seats, to get a dash of red on my cars interior(seats, steering wheel etc..)?

4. I love the styling of the coupe headlight(as well as the taillights) any way for me to get these swapped?? Has anybody been crazy enough to have any such mods done?

Id love to hear from you guys. I love the car, the acceleration, the supreme handling and all... but I still think it doesn’t look aggressive enough. Please let me know what you think of my wishlist items. If anybody has any pics of their mods(appearance), I'd be thrilled to take a peek.

I would start with the JWT pop charger / Ztube setup... It's cost effective... I'm currently running the fujita kit, which has good reviews on the new models...

Also, a plenum spacer will allow more air into the manifold, sizes and prices vary, do some searching in the forums.

To achieve the engine roar, you can opt for some high flow cats... Stillen exhaust... headers, or even test pipes (legal issuses).... And don't forget turbos and superchargers. There are many ways to get more out of your engine, Money will get you all of them.

Now, I would quickly scrap the idea to add red to your interior, that sounds terrible. pop a Nismo chrome decal on the dash or something... I worry about the rice factor.

You wont find any aftermarket tailights or headlights, you want to be different? Dip them in chrome and post up some pics. Some people on here have been painting them black, it looks pretty damn good, depending on the color of your car.

Now, if you really want to give your car that aggressive stance? Opt for some lowering springs, the TEINs are recommended, and the 350Z springs are also a nice mate. Put a nice full body kit and you're getting there.

Welcome - Grant

1. Exhaust (catback, HFC, test pipes, headers), SC or TT

2. I've seen carbon fiber hoods and other aftermarket hoods. Replacing the hood is probably the best option

3. If you really want red/black you could probably find a shop that does interior and replace the leather

4. Just paint the lights or put overlays on them to black them out

Springs are sweet too. Check out Tein S-techs its what I have on mine

Grant,

He has the 2008...quite different from the 2003-2006.

You have dual intake, and I've heard a lot about the Fujita for the newer setup. Go with that.

like Baseball says...drop it with some springs, Teins are great.

Exhaust is great too. I don't expect you'll be doing FI just yet, if ever...but I'm sure that would be a great sound!!

Beware of

4. Just paint the lights or put overlays on them to black them out.

Sometimes, cops will pull you over for having those lights. darkened. Many times you can be lucky. Check with your state to see how legal they are.

Say I dont go in for the intake or exhaust systems right now.. will the coupe midpipe and some exhaust tips that compliment my stocks do the trick with the oomph? I know that there's really no reall performance gain, but I dont want to invest much concidering i just put down a few grand for the G. Lowering springs are a great idea, and maybe just maybe a new set of wheels. i like the Maya DLS 20" Diamond Black for now....

Thanks a lot for your replies guys.
