dkill,

Got your email. For the benefit of NICO members, I have replied on the NICO forum.

The Supercharger I am using is a Vortech V9G. This is now an older model and has been replaced by the SQ (Super Quiet) Vortech range. The cost of the unit can be obtained direct from Vortech.

Most of my cost went into the custom fab and everything asociated with it, not the unit itself.

My set up is a lot more expensive than the Eaton Group buy, because it is a custom one off.

My set up is also complex as I am overdriving the supercharger down low, with an oversized crankshaft pulley to bring on the boost down lower and then rev limiting the engine so as to not overspin the supercharger.

Even though my set up does not change the look of the engine bay as much as the eaton set up (due to the origional intake manifold being retained), you have to look at what you are trying to achieve.

Do you want to improve the performance from a standing start, or break land speed records!

The VH45DE already performs really well in the upper rev ranges, so a Turbo or centrifugal supercharger (not set up properly to boost lower down) will give you more HP but not neccesarilly low down Torque.

I think what you are after is low down torque. If so, go for the eaton, level 10 transmission and JWT reprogrammed ECU and call it a day.

There are pluses and minuses with each of the differing forms of forced induction, but for low down torque due to boost levels from a standing start, it is hard to beat positive displacement supercharging.

Stick with Geoff and go down the eaton path, as it has been done before and you have firm costings.

My set up is so expensive that I do not want to mention how much it has cost me. To give you an idea, my ECU set up alone has cost me more than the 'whole' group buy eaton supercharger set up.

The Eaton set up will prove to me much better value than my set up. For the record, am extremley happy with my set up as it is set up exactly as I require it. Please note that I will never compare my set up to say if it is better or worse than any one elses, as I think that is irrelevant. It is a personal thing and everyone has different requirements and tastes. Iam very happy with my set up.

Hope this is helpful.

Regards

AGM

Ashley, I think I speak for everyone here when I say we eagerly await all of your posts like kids on Christmas morning. :)

Awesome info.

p.s. I emailed your exhaust guy but he never replied. I really would have liked to "pick his brain" for specs on the setup. :(

AZhitman,

My exhaust guy is best contacted by phone. Try ringing again, allowing for the 12 hour time difference. He is crook at the moment, so give him a couple days so he can spend the time chewing the fat. There are very few proffesiional drag car outfits that don't run his exhaust systems. He is an absolute artist when it comes to making pipes.

dkill,

I am glad to be of assistance.

Regards

Possibly. Do we have access to one?
