Against My Advice, S13 Owner puts in HID's. Have a ??

Hey folks,

Against my advice a fellow S13 owner in town has put in HID lights with his H4 conversion S13. Yeup, they glare.

He has a small problem. The company that sold him the kit said it is an H4 Hi/low kit with the HID on the low beam and the Halogen on the high. Once he install this it's actually the opposite. The high beam is the HID and the low beam is the halogen.

Could this be the result of a mis-install on his H4 conversion so he has always been running his lights backwards? (Ie: all this time instead of being on a low beam he has actually been driving with his high beams on)? I've never done an H4 conversion myself and the search on here resulted in no FAQ or DIY h4 conversion that I could find.

Any thoughts on how to correct this for the dumbass?-Rik

My solution is isolate the supply wires and switch them.

I think I follow what you mean. Are you talking about on the 3 wire plug for the H4? Perhaps the wires were switched when the conversion took place?-Rik

That's my guess.

Now I'm assuming this conversion uses the stock wiring to supply power to the headlights. If so, then you'll have a common ground, a low beam supply, and a high beam supply. The conversion probably swapped the wires (easy mistake if its a low quality conversion kit) and the highbeam was getting its signal from the lowbeam circuit and vice cersa for the lowbeam.
