Ok sorry to keep asking but I'm still on the hunt for a good turbo.. There is a local guy selling this 280z turbo (g-air reseach T-28 t3) with the Dp, and waste gate, no shaft play at all.. (it's local so I could check the play in person) I did a search and I found that this tops out at about 250HP but spools fast? That's what i'm looking for because I never plan on doing over 250HP on this engine (KA24E) and I want it to spool really fast! it's my daily driver i'm planing on running around 8psi... The guy wants $220obo for the turbo... to much? how much should I offer?

Thanks!

Sorry, I dont know much about that particular turbo. But you can definitely find something better for a similar price. I think a newer SR T28 (ball bearings!) would work better. Or a straight T3 from a Z31 (84-89 300zx).

You can find the Z31 for under $100 in a junkyard.

Ok There are plenty of 84-89 Turbo Z31s in my junkyard and the set price for a turbo is $40 (I know cheap!) so just get a T3 turbo from a 300zx and get a rebuild kit? every time I look at the turbo Z31 engine I cringe because everything is so packed in there... I can't even see the location of the turbo... where is it?

Yup I swear I have the best junkyard ever! they go through so many cars (4000 a month) they sell everything so cheap! they have a fixed price list for parts so you know when you pull it they are not going to try to screw with you... Fenders are $30 each, Hoods $35, Bumpers $30, Doors $30 MAF $30 Whole rear ends are $120 (VLSD with everthing) Turbos are $40 engines blocks are $50 and whole engines are $150 Does not matter what car it's from if you find a $1000 turbo in a car (doubt it but still...) it would be $40

This is the website so you can see what i'm talking about http://u-pull-it.com/

Standing at the front of the Z, the turbo is on the right side of the motor. Its underneath a lot of intake piping. IIRC, removing the A/C compressor makes it easier to get to the turbo. Bring some WD40 to loosen the exhaust bolts. They can be a pain.
