Vehicle identification number will tell you whether or not you have limited slip. Most I30"t's" come with limited slip.

What makes you think you need a new transmission? Some transmission issues can be corrected by doing a pan drop, cleaning the pan and magnets and replacing the filter; flushing the transmission fluid; replacing solenoid/ sensor, etc. Symptoms and proper diagnostic can isolate the problem. I have a 97 & 99 I30s and both of them have original transmissions. I replace the fluid every 2 years and add a bottle of Lubegard Red each time.

What Loystock said is all good true stuff. Also some times a bad motor mount could make the transmission shift really hard like its going bad.
