You dont know how right you are! My life is swirl mark avoidance. Which is a losing battle. In the almost 10 months since having this done, the swirl marks are very faintly starting to return. I think I'm hypersensitive towards them though. And even in direct sunlight you have to look closely. I'm meticulous about being careful when I wash the car, and the black is still really strong.

Love the kind words guys!

Hey man!

I hope that the car is still in good shape.

It sure was a very tuff detail.

As Joe said above, we used alcohol to make sure that the paint was truly leveled. I wish I knew how to cover up imperfections like that.

I now live in Portland Oregon. Hope everything is well with you.

Sincerely

Thomas
Thomas its thats awesome that you're on here. Good to hear from you. Haven't spoken to you in months. Hope you're doing well. As you can see, you've got a few fans here, besides me.

For all reading, Thomas is the man behind the shine...

Good to hear from you as well. I am proud of you for taking care of your car.

Have you applied anymore wax since the car was detailed?

Man....I got almost the same problem but not as extreme as yours. I think my swirls are at the clear coat level without any deep scratches. Mine looks like someone used a electric buffer in the wrong fashion. Looking into some paint specialist.

If you are looking for a real detailer, try autopia, unless someone on this site can recommend you one. Do you have a sun shot of your swirls?

If you think that you only have buffer trails, those should come out somewhat easy. However you should check your paint under halogens to see the true condition of the paint. m2c

The car looks great......Need to find someone in Dallas for my Black M45. The previous owner must have done the brush car washes

Need to get rid of the spider webs and scratches. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

ArbitrageMan,

Have the swirl marks come back at all since this was done?

Yes.

Although, not very much. After having this work done, I've been super sensitive to how I wash the car, and being so anal has kept it swirl free for the most part. However, one year later, when the car is in the sun, you can see swirl marks returning.

I bought a leaf blower the other day, and from now on when I wash the car I'm going to dry it with that. I think drying it with microfiber towels, no matter many I used at a time, or how careful I was, caused swirl marks.

I will never buy a black car again. My next car will be white or silver, and I'll happily drive through automatic car washes, blissfully ignorant of whats being done to the paint.

dvan - the swirl marks were removed. They could not "come back". What happens is that because of washing/drying, you introduce new ones. Hope that this answers your question.

My kind of guy!!! Although I still wouldn't take it through an automatic car wash. The swirls will flatten the shine on any color.

That will not do it with your paint. Get a flex, some black wool pads

http://micro-surface.com/index...d9af0

and HD UNO to correct.
