Aftermarket wood dash kits

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Got an EX with the maple trim, but don't really like the contrast between the maple on the doors and the black lacquer on the arm rests. I've gone on line and looked at aftermarket wood dash kits, but while the pictures look great (of course), the descriptions make me nervous. Statements like "use a black magic market to darken the edges" make me wonder, and I also worry that sticking the wood inserts in exactly the right spot might be tough. So my question to y'all is, has anyone tried installing one of these kits on an EX -- or anything else, for that matter? If so, was it hard to do? Were you happy with the result? I'm thinking this could be a really bad idea, but thought I'd try to learn from the experience of others. Thanks!

look into places that will dip the parts.. requires you to send everything out but it will be a vinyl film that is applied chemically to the existing parts, hence not an overlay will be more costly but will not have that cheap lexus from the 90s look.

Might be costly but will be your most professional results.

the contrast problem may be more of a stone leather to maple issue. I know that the maple looks gorgeous with chestnut leather.

Thanks, Punjab - I wasn't aware of the dipping option and will check that out
