Does anybody have any comments on how various aftermarket suspensions for our cars compare to modern day new sports cars?

for example, how do a good set of coilovers for an old 240 feel compared to a stock suspension on a brand new 350z

how do springs and struts combos compare?

Recently I have driven an 07 WRX and and 04 GTO and it just got me thinking how aftermarket for older cars compares to brand new stuff coming out today?

I'm talking ride quality and performance.

It's gotten better since the 240sx as do most things as technology improves. Such things like aluminum suspension components are becoming more common(though certainly not the norm) and even lightweight wheels can help. Especially since the OE are following the trend of going to larger wheel/tire combos. They are essentially maintaining at least the performance of older vehicles, and in some cases surpassing them. Your statement above fundamentally are the 2 traits of suspensions that are hardest to balance. From my own experiences with a G35 coupe that was stock, it balanced ride and performance much better than the 240sx I had.

To answer this question, my car is the best handling car that I have ever driven. This is comparing it to a 350z, mazda miata, RX8, and others. Obviously, stock for stock, newer sporty cars like the Z will outhandle a 240sx, but with the right upgrades, the 240sx can be a better handler.
