Aftermarket universal fuel pressure regulator

I received a pretty nice universal adjustable fuel pressure regulator as a gift. The problem is, I don't know much about the details of making it work. I can install it, I just don't know what to do about the stock one. The new one is not model specific, so it will not mount in the same place. What do I do with the stock one that is on now? And what is the right way to adjust the new one? The service manual says the stock one is at 43psi without vacuum and 33psi with vacuum. So, once installed, do I start by removing the vacuum and set to 43psi as my baseline then go from there? Any experienced advise is greatly appreciated.
