Hey all, I'm thinking about upgrading my suspension to get away from the stock components that seem to need constant replacing (control arms/a la death sway particularly) and wanted to get some suggestions from any of you who have replaced suspension components on our trucks. I have an '01 Qx4, and am not looking for a lift or anything like that, just a transition to aftermarket to get more reliable components, and a tighter, smoother ride (I do some occasional off-roading too). Any help is appreciated; particularly with brands, and specific components. I'll be the first to admit, I'm a suspension newb...thanks in advance!

for control arms, stock are best, you just have to replace the bushings if you get death sway, dont think theirs aftermarket ones.

strut mounts, etc bolts, youd want to use dealer ones cause those need to be high quality,

then coils, shock absorbers, and struts, depends if you want for offroad, lower it, or stock, and depends on what kind of ride quality you want.

I think you have some misconception that aftermarket parts are better for quality, oem is almost always superior for a daily driven use stand point, but you pay for it with your wallet.

If you find your bushing are wearing to fast, you can go with polyurethane, which are very solid and reliable, but you loose ride quality.

If youre looking just to smoothen up an old ride, and you figure most components are atleast 50k old. Id grab a set of Kyb Gr2 shocks/struts. New control arm bushings, and sway bar end links on the front and rear. Maybe $500 total spent

4x4parts.com has a good lineup of parts, and you can call before orderring as a few of these staff are quite nice and willing to help
