My car came with an aftermarket power sunroof. Days after I brought the car home, it would no longer slide back (only raise up)and shortly thereafter I realize that it leaked. I've been tolerating the leaking since December and now it will not move at all.

I'm completely unsure of what to do. I don't care one bit about the sunroof. I just want to stop the leaking.

Should I ? Try to replace it with an unpowered (I would assume lighter) aftermarket sunroof ?

Do you think I could just seal the whole thing up somehow ?

Could I (and this is a stretch) buy a replacement roof from a junkyard without a sunroof ?

I'm very open to suggestions as I have no idea how to proceed.

Thanks.

I would get in touch with someone who does sunroofs like a shop and find out how much it would cost them to put new weather stripping in it.

if by leaking you mean that the water is collecting inside the car then that means the drainage tube(s) are getting blocked somehow and the water isnt passing throw which leads it to collect inside the car. As for the sunroof not working its most likely the motor. I also have the same 2 problems that you have.

I dought the weatherstriping has anything to do with it because from what a mechanic told me is that there is a tube that goes from somewhere in the sunroof and goes down the rear pillar and then the water just exists onto the ground. When that tube gets blocked the water just overflows and get inside the car.

hope this helped you out
