As you know, my first mod was a new stereo, and I was left with the hideous gap between the radio and the dash. I found this little trim ring on Amazon. I think it looks a lot better. When I get some time, I'm going to file the bottom part of it down so it will fit better. What is the best thing to file plastic with?

Looks good already, Becki. I don't really see a fitment problem, but if you want to take something off, my suggestion would be to put it in a vise, with a towel cushioning it on both sides, and use an in-line electric sander and somewhere around 200 grit paper. A file will load up very quickly and frustrate you, and is likely to leave a jagged edge. Whatever you use, go along the edge, not across it.

Edit: I'm assuming you want to take something off along the bottom edge.

You can try a small rasp as well. To smooth it out you can use a torch.

I know you can't tell by the pic, but the part of the dash with the a/c controls is curved out. The bottom of the trim ring needs to be about 1/8th inch smaller to fit in that gap. Right now it is hitting the curved part and not fitting perfectly flat.

Thanks for the info.
