hello all, i have a 2008 Sentra SL with the 6 speaker system, not RF........i have replaced all the factory speakers and still have a clipping sound that i had with the factory speakers, so i assume that the head unit is bad. the dealership might replace it, but i think i should get an aftermarket unit anyway. So, the question is........Can I get an aftermarket radio where everything will still work (bluetooth, steering wheel controls, the screen with temp.,mileage,etc.)

Please let me know what you think and what can and can't work with a new stereo. Thanks in advance!

nope i just did an aftermaket install on my 07 se-r and you will loose the factory screen display. I went with a new Pioneer deck that has the bluetooth built in it and comes with the equipment for hands free calling within the car speakers with a use of the small microphone included with unit.also if you plan on using aftermaket you need to buy an additional wire adapter to get fm/am radio. the stock radio does not have your usuall metal atenna plug it was just wired into an adapter and plugged into the back of stock radio, so this adapter makes that all work.as far as your wheel controls you will also need to buy an adapter for that. Im not sure how much that runs i did not need to install that because mine didnt have that. i would say it does look alot cleaner then the factory radio and sounds really well.... and if you replaced all factory speakers it should really put out some great sound!

I have the same stereo as you and now I wish I had gotten the Rockford Fosgate package because I know I will want an aftermarket stereo someday.I might just change speakers because I dont want to lose the LCD screen and all the other goodies. The XM radio works really well though, I think I'll renew my subscription to it. Did you replace the tweeters as well?

Oh, and the dealership should replace the radio if you're having problems, you should check and post what happens.

hey guys, thanks for the responses. I am taking my car in tomorrow, so hopefully they will replace the head unit. I've decided to keep the head unit b/c I too want to keep all that stuff I paid for. Instead, I am getting a 4 channel amp to power my new speakers. I replaced the four 6 x 9's with a pair of really nice Infinitys in the front and not as nice Alpines in the back. I took out the tweeters (if you can call them that) in the front, and got some Polk db1000s. CarToys and Crutchfield people all think that the system will be pretty good with that amp powering all 6 speakers. By the way, the amp I'm getting is an Alpine MRP-F250......

Alright, so if you are putting in a Dual or Single Den unit and you want your stering wheel buttons to work, along with the intergrated display the following is needed.

1. PAC SWI-JACK

2. Metra - part # NIRD-01
