Ok so i installed my Sony XAV-C dvd player it has a built in 50x4 amp peak power,

i then proceeded to install all my aftermarket speakers as follows:Front : 225W max 75W RMS 6.5" oversized pioneer 2 way<best ones they made like 2 years ago> speakers

Back: 225W max 75W RMS 6x9" Eclipse 4 way speakers <best ones best buy had in at the time and i didnt feel like waiting>

So the problem i guess... is that i have to turn the stereo nearly to 2/3 for decent level at which point the sound is peaked. There is almost no bass compared to when the stock speakers were hooked into the sony head unit. There is however an ungodly amount of high frequency output, which kind of serves to give me a headache without any lows. I remember reading the 2 ohm thing but i figured switching out the head unit to my aftermarket one would change it over to 4 ohm??? i'm guessing not. So what should i do to get the power back into my speakers cause they sounded much better in my last car. Should i buy a 4 channel amp rated to like 60-70 rms per channel?

I would prefer not to put subs in as i have 2 12" audiobahn subs that dont even fit in the trunk right now that my 1300 watt single channel amp is hooked up to. (wouldnt mind a link to a custom dual 12" box)

HELP!!!!

your speakers are requiring a lot of rms to run them, your head unit is only putting out maybe 25 watts rms, on a good day. Also have you turned on the loudness on the head unit, that might help for now.

Hey whats up, i understand where your coming from which is why I was nervous taking out the factory speakers. You def need an amp to power those component speakers that goes without saying if you want to use them to there true potential. The Stock Bose System has the lows in the back speakers, that is where all the bass comes from. At this point if i was you i would go to a professional car sound shop thats been around along time and find reviews to make sure they know what they are doing and have them install a box amp battery cap and have them fine tune your system so its not bass over kill or the highs are giving you a headach.

http://www.zenclosures.com has custom altima boxes at what I think to be a decent price.
