Alright Guys I am the new owner of a '97 Maxima SE without the BOSE. I'm looking at gettting an aftermarket stereo because the stock system is absolutely terrible. Anyway my question is what size are the speakers in the front doors, the rear and the tweeters. Also what is the easiest way to remove the speakers. I used to have a Infiniti J30 and the speaker covers just popped off, but that does not seem to be the case with the Max, it looks like the covers are screwed in. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

to ge tthe speakers out your going to have to take off the door panel, isnt that difficult but thats what needs to happen....!

Welcome to NICO im sure someone will be posting up about the speaker sizes in the front... IM sure theyre the same sizes (rear 6x9s, 4.5s in front, yes goofy size)....

As Wes stated, you have to remove the door panels. Front and rear speakers should all be 6.5"

i think you have to go thru the trunk to access the rear speaker deck. at least, i believe thats how you would do it. cold is cold, i hate cold weather...its sucks balls! cold in tn is like 30's-40's, sometimes it might dip down into the 20's but not too often. and matt - you know your temp is about the same as mine!! lol

Nah mine are def rounded, I would be happy if they were 6x9 because that is what my aftermarket speakers are from my old car. They are 6.5, ok the back speakers i tried to get to from the trunk but there are screws coming down from the top of the rear deck holding them in place. Has anybody actually replaced the rear speakers themselves? Also I have still yet to hear anything on the tweeter size.

From what I have seen, you have to remove the whole parcel shelf. First, you have to remove the back seat (both upper and bottom sections) and pop off the rear pillar covers. At that point the whole section including speaker grills should pull out.

Or something like that. I've never owned a 4th gen.....

This seems right from looking at mine. Though yours could be different because I definitely have 6x9's in the rear of mine. The holes are round but once you take the grill off (Which may just be glued down to the deck, mine had no screws) the speakers are lower and extend across the holes.
