I want to upgrade my Versa/Tiida's stock audio system to something better. I currently have 4 door Speakers with a 6 cd changer with FM/AM radio and AUX input. I am not sure if I have a built in subwoofer but my guess is that I don't. I want to get new speakers, MAYBE a new head unit (can I use my Tiida's stock head unit?), amplifier(s) and subwoofer. Can someone please suggest me the ideal set up for my car, along with the brand of speakers, HU, amps and subs that I should be looking at? My budget is $600 including wiring. The type of music I listen to is House, Dance, Techno, Rock, Hip-hop/Rap, Alternative and Lounge. I also like to hear the big boom of the bass so I was thinking of a JL Audio subwoofer but don't know which one. I prefer having a false floor under which I can place the subwoofer. Also how many amplifiers do I need? Is the stock HU good enough to power 4 new amped speakers + 1 subwoofer? Please help.

$600 will get you a pretty good set up. I am also looking at upgrading my system. You can hook up an amp and subwoofer or a sub with a built in amp to your stock stereo. I hooked up a powered sub to a stock stereo in a reg cab Dodge Ram back in 06. Also replaced the stock speakers with some aftermarket ones. It sounded ok. But really, I say go with an aftermarket head unit, aftermarket speakers and a sub. It will sound much better. Try http://www.crutchfield.com for some ideas on brands and set ups for your V. Keep us posted.

I have the SL model Versa with the premium system from the dealership (6 disc cd changer + pioneer speakers) and I added an MTX amp and 2 RockfordFosgate 10' subs. It sounds great for the music you'd be listening to and it's fairly cheap.

If you have a BestBuy in your area I suggest going there because right now they have a RockfordFosgate "package" that includes a box, amp, and subs (10' or 12'). You can get that for about 300-400 can't remember the actual price.

I also thing they might do free installs with purchases! Than you can save the rest of that $600 and get yourself a sexy DVD/navigation system!

Well I am currently not in the United States but in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where I am driving my Versa. I went to a car audio store today called Yellow Hat and they took a look at my car and said that since my car is just a few months old, I should keep my stock HU and speakers and just add a subwoofer and amplifier. It sounded pretty reasonable so I asked them what I should be looking at. They showed me their Rockford Fosgate 10" sub box which has the Punch subwoofer in it. It sounded absolutely brilliant but the price along with an amplifier and wiring and installation was pretty expensive. If I convert it to USD, then it would come to approx $681. I don't want to go in for such an expensive set up as I barely live in Dubai (only for 4 months of the year). I also looked at other subwoofers and the JBL 12 inch ones looked pretty good. I could not hear them as they were not hooked up. But what do you guys think of me just getting the JBL subwoofer and installing that without a box in my car boot? Is that reasonable or do I have to buy a box for it? Please advise me, something that is within my budgetary constraints and also sounds great in my Versa. I don't want to spend $680 for just the subwoofer and amplifier.

Generally the things you need depend on the music you will be listening to.

12" are great for rap/hip hop etc.10" are great for rock/metal etc.

RockfordFosgate is a GREAT brand (I think), but I do agree that $680 is a bit pricey. I'm not exactly sure about how you like your music and bass to be, but since I like a lot of bump I decided to get 2 10" subs. If you want just a mild bump you could probably get away with just grabbing one and than upgrading in the future and buying another one.

I would also recommend getting a box, it makes them sound a lot better.

Good luck :D

How about a powered sub?

http://www.amazon.com/Infinity...r=8-1

I have a cheaper model (BOSS) installed in my outlander. Personally I love it. It is installed under the drivers seat.

Hey thnx for this link... I've been looking in to getting a sub for my car but didn't want a huge box so now that you've given this link I'm looking in to it.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. Well, I looked around a lot today but could not find the Infinity powered sub. It would have been great but unfortunately, none of the aftermarket dealers had it in stock. So I did some more research and hit upon the JBL CS1204T, which is essentially a 250W RMS cylindrical sub that would need an amp with it. The sub is costing me around $89 which is pretty cheap and that along with a 600W Kenwood mono channel amp with cables is coming to $200 which I think is a good deal. Now I don't know what you all think about these components, so any inside information on these products would be a great help. I mainly listen to hip-hop, house, club and R&B. Do you think I should go for this deal or should I buy the more expensive Infinity Basslink? I am posting links of all 3 products that I mentioned here so tell me if you think it is worth it. Heads up, I am NOT changing the stock head unit and speakers as my car is just 9 months old and I think the speakers sound just fine.

Infinity Basslink (the one I looked for but could not find)http://www.amazon.com/Infinity...r=1-1

Kenwood 600W Mono Channel Amphttp://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk....html

Ignore the prices on these websites, I am getting good prices from my dealers. Just tell me if this set up is worth my money or not. Thanks a lot people.

I've been toying with the Factory Sub Setup and an aftermarket system for a while in another feed. I am def. getting the basslink system that was referenced above. They have a lot of various vendors online with a wide variety of prices.

THANKS VERSA NATION!
