sorry i tried sarching but i cant really find a whole lot of answers.

I found the pinouts of the stereo plug for the bose head unit, i'm just wondering can you use an aftermarket stereo with the bose amps and speakers and everything?

also with this pinout, wheres the 12v batt wire? and which wires do i use for the speaker input on my alpine deck?

i cant get the picture to post, but this pinout right here.zer...2.jpg

It's possible to wire into the Bose amps/speakers but I don't like how it works/sounds after that. The gain is all messed up and the bass usually dies at higher volumes. The way I always do it is to bypass the OEM amps and wire directly to the speakers or just replace the speakers all together.

The 12V batt wire is C and the switched acc. lead is E.

Your Alpine deck won't have speaker "inputs". It will have outputs and as suggested above, I'd run speaker wires to each speaker and bypass the Bose amps.

Like shane said its not perfect, ive done it but i dont really think it sounds that bad... however, you ahve to question why you want to replace it with an aftermarket unit if you're satisfied with the sound of the stock one?

You can buy an adapter from crutchfield which lets you keep the amps.

sorry ya i just meant out of all of those wires for the amps which ones do i splice into the speaker outputs on my alpine deck.

And i'm switching to the alpine deck so i can have a cd player, mp3 player, xm radio, and have pre-amp outs for my subs, and have a sweet cd tray with the double dinn eliminator lol j/k.

I guess i'll try to use the amps and everything and see how it sounds and just go from there. if i have to bypass the amps or get new speakers and run new speaker wire since i'm gonna have to do that anyway for my amp in the trunk then so be it.

What all does the bose system have though, sorry i just bought this car a couple weeks ago, but does it just have the front tweeters in the a-pillar, the fronts and then the rears? and each speaker has a built in amp on it?

Keep the Bose (Sorry Drew) and buy the $25 adapter cable made by QSIguy. It plugs into the back of the Bose and will let you plug in any personal music device (MP3, Ipod, etc.). Save the money you would have spent on speakers and start buying fuel injectors. You'll need them eventually.

honestly i think that keeping the bose is the best option but if its trashed then get rid of it.

Hey Goody, I searched on the name you gave for the ipod connector that works with the stock unit but nothing came up. Do you have a URL or phone number?

When I ordered mine a while back, I sent a PM to "qsiguy" who makes the connectors.

Here's the web site for Shane's shop:

(It's qsiguy not qslguy)

Did you use the Bose adapters when you installed your aftermarket radio? Popping, as you describe, is normally a result of grounding issues or a crappy radio. What kind of radio did you install?
