Hey,

Was just gonna install my own head unit., i removed the old stereo, attached the bracket to my new deck, and i have allready located the switched power and constant power and ground. but now im thinking about the speakers. i was just gonna keep the factory speakers for now. But i am wondering if i will have to run new wires to the speakers from the head unit, or should i just run them back to the amplifier and attempt a splice into the amplifier output? Any Ideas? Or did anyone allready do this and could save me some headaches and time?

Thanks,Ronnie

I ran an aftermarket head unit on the stock speakers and amps...

you will need a metra harness... I have one for a 90-94 Q if you want to buy it off me... it plugs into the factory harness and then allows you to splice as necessary... Just splice the outputs into RCAs and plug them into the back of the HU...

BTW, you dont want to ground the new HU with the stock ground... You want to ground it to the body.. For some reason the grounding is in the antenna and you wont get a good ground.....

Wes is right about the harness...

You can pretty much get yourself a standard Nissan harness and not have to pore over which wire is which. I’m confused as to what you mean by “amplifier”…Are you installing a power amp or are you speaking of the factory bose amps? (there are 4 in all) When I did the change-over, I ran thick speaker wires directly from the head unit to all locations… reason being that if you decide to do a system upgrade, the wires will already be there to handle the current. If all you’re installing is a head unit, it will be more powerful than the factory unit. You’ll disconnect the amplifiers in the bose enclosure (front doors) and rears…then run the wires directly to the speakers. I'm not a fan of connecting new HUs to the factory amps … they are already prone for fire without interference. If you’re using power amps, you’ll have RCA wires running from HU pre-outs to the Amp/s and only have to worry about speaker wires running from power amp to speaker.

This was written up for Wes. You can use it as a generic writeup. You can connect an aftermarket headunit with RCA Pre-outs to the existing & working bose amps/speakers.

Its all good now fellas thanks!!!

Got my badboy gear in today! Missed my deck! And Subs! Got 2 Orion XTR 10's DVC's, Sony CDX-M9905X, And a Orion 225 HCCA.

Took out the rear speakers, now i got some BOOM! What a difference! It was either them or the parcel compartment! So i chose the junky bose for now, ill build a nice setup for the rear with seperate mid and tweet setup. And hook up my other beast i have sittin, an Orion Xtreme 375w.

I picked up the wiring harness and the antenna adapter at the local Canadian Tire for less then $22. sweet deals!

Thanks Again,Ronnie

for the mids, you should definately look into the adire Kodas. they're some of the best i've heard. as for tweets, rainbow makes some of the best if you can afford them
