hey guys, new to the site, just picked up a 1992 240sx hatch. Shes all bone stock and virgin, including stereo... the stock "active speaker" system was buggered, so i installed a alpine cd/mp3 deck and it powered up no problems, all fucctions work including radio, but not a sound eminated from the speakers.

Next, i tried hooking up new infinity 4x6's all around. hooked up beautifully with factory housings, but connected to the factory wires.... still no sound. so i ripped apart all the door panels and wired in fresh 12 gauge wires and bypassed the factory harness...... still no sound...

ive hooked up many a stereo and as i see it i think i've bypassed/disconnected the factory external amplifiers. im a mechanic by trade and my brother is a car audio fanatic, and we're both scratching our heads on this one. any advice would be extremely helpful.

Have you run wires directly from the deck to the speakers?

I see nothing wrong with the factory amps, why not just use them? Just make sure you have power connected to them and the correct turn on wire hooked up. Did you use a harness adapter or just cut and hack your way through it?

i had a problem with my front speakers. yet i have a 95 still... i did the same, new deck, ran all new wires. if you ran all new wires. i would imagine they are hooked up right. all powerd up on deck. still no sound. its eather a stupid problem that you are over looking or ... ive never heard of this being a problem but check out all of your power and ground wires to your deck and make sure your getting enough juice.

some decks feature a "turn off power IC" option which would kill the on deck amp if you're hoping to run it with that.

There is another possibility, a rewire that is needed if you plan on using the speakers that came with "active" sound. At the speaker side.
