Hey guys,

I've done quite a bit of searching on the forums, and I've found a ton of information about adding a subwoofer to the bose equipped g37 models, but I have not seen much at all about adding a system to the base model g37s. I know that I would like to add a sub, and I am thinking I will probably want to put some components in the front. I have been looking at both JL and Image Dynamics for my upgrades. I do have a couple of questions though.

1. With the base stereo, will I have to add something like a cleansweep or a 360.1 to clean out the signal? I know the base system does not have any amps, so I would presume that the signal from the deck is not flat.

2. Does anyone know what the easiest direct replacement components would be for the base system? There probably aren't any, since up front I have an 8 and a tweeter. I guess I will just have to get an adapter for 6.5s.

3. Has anyone done a full install in a base G37? Is this something I could tackle DIY with limited experience? Upgrading the sub on the bose system looked like it would be a breeze, but I think a full install might be a bit more demanding.

Thanks so much guys, and have fun with your wives, husbands, and significant others today!

Welcome to NICO!

As a fellow audio nut, I can appreciate your concern to make the stereo sound much better.

1. If you plan on doing a complete re-do, I would recommend a cleansweep or similar product to use the stock deck with aftermarket amps.

2. one word...Crutchfield!

3. Full installs are always more complex, but if you have the $$ it will sound 10x better! The hardest part would be taking off the interior panels without damaging them. The bulk of the work can be done by anyone with time and some DIY experience. This is how I would do it:

1. Run the power wire from the battery to the trunk.2. Run a remote turn-on to the front deck.3. Run new speaker wires to all soon-to-be-used speaker locations to the trunk.4. Install mid/high speakers and label all speaker wires in the trunk.5. Have an audio shop mount and connect the amp, install the cleansweep or a similar unit. Build a sub enclosure.

This will save you lots of $$ and will sound/look great!
