Hey guys, new'ish member. Been lurking mostly, but now I'm having a real problem i really could use some help. I'm having a hell of a time finding an aftermarket steering wheel hub adapter for my 1991 TT. So far all I see are hub adapters for a non HICAS/turbo models. Does that matter? I have a the full Z1 HICAS delete on my TT anyway. Will it screw something up or throw a code or something if i use one? Or is that only a disclaimer for people that intend to keep and use HICAS? :gotme

HICAS models have a separate control module that among other things monitors the steering wheel angle via a sensor. The problem is that the HICAS controller controls the entire power steering system on those models. It monitors for a speed reading to adjust the amount of power steering, and also has fail-safes that will shut power steering off completely if it doesn't detect things like the speed reading or the steering wheel angle. All of that said that if you remove that steering angle sensor, you'll likely need to look up in the FSM how to bypass it to keep the HICAS controller happy so you can keep power steering.
