Hi guys, I've finally got my car to be almost as good as stock :). Anyway, my digital speedometer does not work (that common issue), but I wanted to figure out some way to have it work. My uncle took it to a mechanic shop and they swapped out several clusters and the digital speedometer would only work for a few days, then die out again.

I'm hoping I can just install an aftermarket one (hook it up to the ECU - or whatever it is called that the Apexi Multichecker hooks up to). I'm looking at the Autometer Speedometers in particular.

Will I be able to install this and have it work although the digital one doesn't work? If so, is anyone kind enough to provide instructions/steps?

I was thinking of trying the steps from the 240sx.org faq, but I was having a problem following them, since I'm not that mechanically inclined.

All help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

You can intall the analog guages from a 240sx with relative ease. I had the same problem with my guages. Wanna know what I did to fix them. I opened it up and where the 2 plugs connect to the back of the guages, I ziptied them together to put pressure on the plugs. It has worked and worked well for 4 months. Those guages are one of the little things that make our cars awesome

I replaced my digital cluster with analog gauges. first, try replacing the time control unit, a small white plastic box in the driver side kick panel.http://www.geocities.com/davidfruits

Hi guys, thanks a lot for replying.

I will definitely give all options a try at the end of the week because I have midterms next week.

I'll try the ziptie idea first.

kansas: i think the time control unit is for just the windshield wipers right? (http://www.240sx.org/faq/artic...n.htm)

Would that have anything to do w/ the digital gauges? just checking.

Also, did you have to modify anything (i.e. the wiring) to get your digital to become an analog?

In the meantime, in case there was anyone who was like me and didn't know how to remove the cluster, here is a nice link w/ pictures I found: http://www.lsauto.com/install.asp

Thanks again guys, I'll keep you updated when I have the chance.
