I've been doing research to plan out my RB25det build. Everyone is aware of the crank collar issue prevalent on alot of RB engines. They discuss which motors have them, what to look for , and the many fixes of the problem.

Ok so here's my question, I'm looking into stroking my rb25det. I'm not sure whether i want to just stroke it using a rb 26dett crank and pistons, or actually go with a stroker kit. (Brian Crowers 2.9L stroker does seem mighty appealing)

The questions: - What are your opinions of after market stroker setups- HKS, Tomei, JUN, Brian Crower?

- Do aftermarket cranks address the crank collar issue? I'm assuming they would, but noone ever mentions using an aftermarket crank as an option to fix the crank collar issue.

I apologize ahead of time if thats a stupid question, its 7:18 am, and i havent slept yet.

After market Stroker setups from Tomei, HKS, Apexi are top notch stuff.

They all address the collar issue. The reason why people go the route of getting a collar onto their stock crank is the price. $150 collar compared to a $5000 stroker kit or $3000 crank.

However, those off the shelf kits bring alot of benefits along as well. Cranks good for 10,000RPM are always nice. As well as knowing the metal thats spinning your engine has 0 miles while used 26 cranks could have who knows how many.

It all comes down to two things...what do you want and need in your set up, and mostly how much money are you willing and able to spend.

good point. after looking up how much those stroker kits are, i think i'm going to go with a rb26, with en over bore, and after market crank. Like you said, its nice knowing your crank has 0 miles on it, and obviously theres the benifits of being fully balanced (counterweighted) able to spin to 10k. too bad the valve train will never keep up- though tomei does have a solid lifter kit.... but its probably a nightmare to spec that out....

don't worry theres valvetrain that can take 10k rpm

However, do i recommend 10k rpm reving motors :/... not for any street car. (I mean daily driver )

again, do some research. The info is on here, and a good machine shop will most likely know what they are doing. GL! keep us posted on your build!

True, 10k on a street car seems to much like a honda, lol. But it's nice to know you can
