Hello,

Any idea if one of those double-DIN MP3, DVD/CD multiformat, GPS NAV, touch screen, rear camera monster multimedia units can be fitted replacing the in dash factory radio.

I own a S model.

Thanks

Juan

Metra is usually the first to offer dash kits.

I plan on getting rid of the Bose stock head unit aswell and am wondering if the Pioneer AVIC D3 will fit? or will we have to get a kit for it?

I'm interested in that back-up camera/NAV unit too ... by the way, don't you mean "Rogue" Man?

The AVIC-D3, that is exactly the multimedia unit I was looking into. Multiformat, NAV and rear camera. The installation seems very involved thought.

Really? the installation part seems tough? ill just take it to drive in autosound and they should be able to hook it up no problem. The thing that worries me though is the back up camera and if its required to be drilled for installation.

It's pricey... but it's got everything!

I've also read that Scosche may make better quality double-din kits than Metra, but there isn't one available, as yet, for the Rogue.

For anyone doing aftermarket stereo installs or any mod to thier Rogue:

Please detail your install and take photos. We can then start a seperate thread and add it to the FAQ sticky. This would be a great resource for all Rogue owners contemplating the same types of mods.

I have just received my dash kit today. I'm so happy to see it in person, it actually made the grainy texture to match our dash's. 200% satisfaction for Metraonline's products.

From looking at it, it looks like it'll fit perfectly. I haven't had the chance to test fit it inside the car, yet; but I can tell, it's going to be a great fit.

My GPS unit will arrive Tuesday, it's a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with following extras:*Bluetooth Interface*Backup Camera*iPOD connection Interface*XM/Traffic receiver

I'm going on a 3-week business trip on Monday, so I won't be able to install too soon. But I'm planning to whip up a full write-up for my install whenever I get the chance. I already researched the installation before I made all my purchases. All the wires are there in one factory radio plug, I have the non-BOSE system, by the way.

Here's a few tricks first:The speed sensor wire is already in the radio plug because according to Nissan FSM, our stereo is supposedly speed sensitive, whatever that means. But conveniently, a solid blue wire is in there, and that's the speed sensor wire. Had this wire not be there, the installation would have been a PITA because Rogue's electronics are based heavily on this new Nissan CAN Bus setup. But speed wire is there, no worries.

For the parking brake wire required on Pioneer AVIC-D3, I will do the by-pass mod and hit 2 birds with one stone. 1) the by-pass will enable in-motion videos and navigational capabilities, unlocking the safety feature. 2) by-pass method will eliminate the need for running the eBrake sensor wire.

All the other wires are just there for grabs. It's going to be a good day, folks.

Nice, let me know if you run into any problems at all.

One thing to note, thought, the blue speed sensor wire I'm talking about is somewhere in the middle of the plug, there's also a blue wire in the last column, but that's for speakers. So be careful not to connect the wrong wire.

Good luck with the install.

I connected the system but didn't connect the speed sensor yet. Will continue tomorrow to disassemble speedometer. But the system is a lot louder and sounds very clear compare to original. I love it.

Hey, you may not want to disassemble your speedometer for the speed signal, it's CAN Bus controlled, your signal may not even come from one single wire, probly a pair of Tx and Rx wire is there to get speedo working they are digially pulsed and decoded to move the speedo needles. But I may be wrong, and please let me know, I'm very curious about it.

I just looked at the BOSE wiring diagram. Your speed signal wire is also present in the main harness behind the audio unit. You'll see 2 solid blue wires in that harness. The one somewhere in the middle is sound signal for one of the speakers. The one at the bottom right is your speed signal wire. I'm doubting if this speed signal wire would work with the AVIC, because it says that signal exists only at 25 mph and up. You should try that wire for speed signal first.

I also notice that BOSE audio has a lot more other stuff attached to it, CAN Bus in one big thing embedded in the BOSE functional accessories. Bluetooth, steering control, sat-audio, and your combo meter are all associated into the BOSE unit. Please let me know if the following items are problematic after your installation: Steering controls, combo/calc meter/ bluetooth, dim controls. From my understanding, it seems like you'll lose some ground wire connections by unplugging the BOSE harness and only use some of those wires to suffice the AVIC connections.

That's also the reason why I insisted on getting my Rogue without the complicated wiring diagrams from BOSE audio systems. By sticking to the base audio setup, everything is actually made easy.

I have that same exact wiring harness, it's actually made for regular aftermarket radio conversions. It didn't pin in enough wires for GPS installations. It's a half-azz product the way I see it.

Thanks, PCY. I think I will skip the connection to the VSS and just go by with straight connection using the wiring harness.

what about the antenna? does the factory came with regular plug for the antenna or do i need to get this antenna adapter?

http://retailer.installationex...=9531

thanks in advance.

Oh I didn't look much into the antenna plug, yet. I bought my AVIC with XM tuner, so radio pluggin wasn't part of my research. However, when I start my installation, I'll find out how to deal with all that.

I had to disconnect the speedometer because I don't have the bose system. For some reason Crutchfield shipped me the wrong antenna adapter and I decided just to modify it by soldering original antenna wire to the adapter. I spent the whole day with my friend to install that goddamn nav system. After all I don't know why but airbag icon is flashing now.

Hey all,

Wondering if you go a dash kit for your install. I am not using the AVIC but the Pioneer DEHP700BT single DIN. Cruchfield is slow to get it in and thinking I may have to take drastic measures and pay full price. If I can ask where your dash kit came from? Local or????

Leo, if you don't have the BOSE system, then you're the same as me. You shouldn't have to disconnect or undo your speedometer at all. Your speed signal is also in the audio main harness, same location. If you look directly into it, it's at the bottom right, a blue wire. Hope this helps.

From the way it looks, you must have grounded off some wires behind the dash somewhere, Airbag flashing comes from a self check system in the same circuit through CAN Bus. If so, I would recommend that you only use the power, speakers, and speedo wire from audio harness, nothing else. Then try to ground loop back to the audio harness also, don't use your own ground as Pioneer manual intends.

Best to call them up and ask directly. They have a few double din kits in stock, and from talkijng on the phone to metraonline, they also produce the single din kits. Good luck.

Well....anyway. AVIC-D3X is so nice. Seems to be everything works fine except flashing airbag. I think I might disconnect something when I was pulling the panel with airbag inside on the driver's side so I could squeeze the xm antenna to the roof and microphone for bluetooth to the dome light. But I alredy ordered OBD scanner from mynissanparts.com before ordering it I called them to make sure that it can troubleshoot the problems with airbags. I won't have a time to play with it untill weekend. BTW bluetooth does not work with my phone but it works with my friends phones. Mine is blackjack II and probably will have to replace with something else.
