So I smelled coolant and noticed that there was coolant blown around by the fans. I cleaned everything off and went for a little ride to heat it back up. Coolant just around the base filler tube/cap. Figured it was the cap and got a new one (cheapy) at Autozone. Took another short ride and there is still coolant at the base of the filler tube. Its been super hot hear and I'm not losing any noticable level of coolant and I can't see any cracks in that area. I'm going to pressure test it and see what happens but I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a good aftermarket cap that maybe has a higher pressure rating.

Thanks.

You want to get the right cap for your car. The rad cap is a failsafe, designed to leak so other components don't. If you get too strong a cap, you might end up with worse problems down the road.

That said, I've had problems with cheap radiator caps that were supposedly the right weight for my car in the past. Stepping up to a pricier one (which happened to have a safety relief valve built in) solved my problems.

Spring weight should be stamped or printed on the stock cap. Make sure to match it with any replacements. If you go too light, you could end up leaking when there's nothing wrong.

I went and got a NISMO radiator cap and havent ever had any issues. They are a little pricey, but not too bad...
