MBC... all of the info you posted about the Z2 is correct. In terms of bypassing the Z2... you will have to

1. Download the bypass ISO file..(dont buy from ebay, you can get this FOR FREE from http://www.avic411.com

2. You will need to remove a particular wire in the harness, and place it in another position and then ground that wire. (again, check avic411.com for instructions)

3. Ground the parking brake wire(green wire)

That's it...if you decide to go with the Z2, don't forget to go to pioneerelectronics.com to get the patch to correct the hard drive freezing issue.

Also, aftermarket double din kits are available on ebay from "honestdee". they are selling the metra kits, good kits!.............*note* while it would be nice to use the center console pience that comes with the altimas equipped with navigation systems... you can't. The center opening on these is too wide! For the cost you would have to pay to fabricate the piece and close it in, it wouldn't be worth it.... on the flip side, unfortunately, the texture of the aftermarket dask kit is a bit different from the factory kit, so it will look a little funny if you don't plan on adding a trim kit (i.e carbon fiber, brushed aluminum, etc) hope this helps!

Yeah, keep up posted.

There must be a new model coming out or something. The guys at GW Autosports quoted me 2Grand. They were suprised that I told them CarDomain had it for 1399. He said, at that price, it's a steal, and he doubted it was the Z2, asking if it was the D3 or N2...lol.

750? That's insane.

MadBC

Sounds more like a D3...or a cat burglar...lol

LBC... I've always felt like if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!!!

My guess is...1. they may be Z1's upgraded to the Z2 system

2. They may be dropped or damaged

3. They may be stolen

4. They may be refurbs

Dealer cost for these units is about 1700. Bulk wholesale cost is about 1400. So to get these at 750??? I'll tell you what...I Don't want one!!!

They have had the '07 Altima kit since 2 months after the car came out...and since the '07 AND '08 Coupe/Sedan share console trim, you can use it.

Hell, the refurbished Z2s are running 1,300 - 1,100.

Z1's are still running 1000+

Sounds like a ski-mask job or mistake between model numbers or even brands (Pannasonic vs Pioneer).

Yep, very true man. That's what I learned at Tweeter.

The only problem, like RDJ said, is regarding the double din slot:

"Also, aftermarket double din kits are available on ebay from "honestdee". they are selling the metra kits, good kits!.............*note* while it would be nice to use the center console pience that comes with the altimas equipped with navigation systems... you can't. The center opening on these is too wide! In my case, I have the charcoal interior, and a black dash kit, even though not textured the same, would work fine for my car.

Luckily, the guys as GW Autosports said they could retrofit something for me if I need it.

Yeah dawg,

A CarDomain rep said the item is discontinued. Sounds like no more coming in--that is what I think of the word discontinued. Maybe a new model is coming soon? hmmm.

It seems to me, they got near the end of inventory and decided to discount the remaining few at a grand. Doing that whiped them out totally.

I called today. They told me they are holding mine. Once my card clears, they will ship it out. I'm not sure what that's all about--actually, it hasn't cleared my acount yet--but I'll keep you posted. I will stay on their **** trust me...lol.

Let's hope for the best!

I agree with you V919, I suspect a new model coming up, priced fairly resonable I bet. Who knows though, CarDomain is selling a boatload of stuff at amazing prices.

I know it's not Christmas, but it sure feels like it in the MadBC household.

MBC... be sure to update the system with the new firmware I mentioned, also, I think with the updated firmware, it may not matter that the manufacture date on your unit is before July 2007 in regards to watching videos and operating navi while in motion!

MBC, looks like a great unit! Can you sum up all the connections that I see on the back? Most likely spots for add on products, like the ones your getting. Just curious

Also, where does the navigation antenna go, and where do you put the CDs?

Hey thanks,

Hah. I don't know enough about what it has, so I'll just put the link to some of the manuals below:

HARDWARE MANUALhttp://www.maddenmatrix.com/al...8.pdf

Page 16: You can see a drawing of the unit after the face flips down--it's motorized. Once it flips, you see the CD slot.

INSTALLATION MANUALhttp://www.maddenmatrix.com/al...8.pdf

Page > 7Good stuff in the entire manual regarding what can be connected.

In terms of the antenna:

Just an update folks!

I ordered and received the metra dash kit from honestdee of Ebay. It looks good. I took it to the installer, he says it looks fine.

Only thing is the upper part of the dash is not included, so the three air vents up top will remain with the original dash, which is somewhat bumpy texture. The Metra kit is smooth black plastic. Works for me because my interior is charcoal and the trip for the vents on the dash is close to the same black plastic of the Metra kit.

Once the Z2 is installed, I'll see if it bothers me. If so, I'll work on a Plan B.

Looks like Sat, 27th, at 9am, the installation will take place. That's the plan Stan.

Here are the figures:

Total cost of labor, 225.Cost of the Z2, 1050.Cost of all additonal parts <800. This includes:a. bluetooth adapter (the installer is not sure at this point if I will still be able to use the steering wheel to control the bluetooth. In a sense, he is taking out bluetooth to put bluetooth in...get it? No? Me neighter...lol. Well, actually, you are removing a 6 CD unit with bluetooth and replacting it with a nav system with bluetooth.).b. ipod cablec. cables needed to hook up all speakers (some navs don't connect all the speaker, so this is not a trivial matter, and the connections and cables, although I'm not sure all the details, over 150)d. rear view camera license cover (decided against the big ugly camera that comes with the unit)

Less Filling

Tastes Great

e. steering wheel control (Includes Bluetooth control keys and Voice Command key.)f. XM Satellite Radio Tuner with XM NavTraffic (once again, the current XM stuff must go I believe)

The ipod will set in the box underneight the dash, not the glove box. I don't want nothing in the glove box.

The nav antenna will go on the front dashboard. I don't want nothing on top of the car. Inside, not outside.

I decided to throw some 35% tint on it for good measure. Add 160 to the total.

Anyway, just an update. If all works well, we will be navynaved and tint tint tinted up sat night....

and I owe it all you guys!

Update.

Ran into a snag at GW Motorsports.

The Nav was installed, BUT, the guy doing the work could not figure out how to get freakn sound to work...let me say this sucksssssssssssssssssssss!

Although he did say the nav, bluetooth, and ipod connections appeared to be working...AND...the Metra kit fitted perfectly...GREAT>

GoodNews: All the cables are installed, including the rear camera, which, for some reason, was not delivered on time for the installed....let me say this suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucksssssssssssssssssss!

The tint was installed...goodnews. Looks good. 35% is okay, but I may go a little darker. Badnews, there were some bubbles, but they dissapeared overnight. Also some bubbles around the top of the rear windshield...these did NOT dissapear. He says he will put some heat on it and get them out...hmmmm.

QUESTION: Should tint installation be PERFECT? Should I expect a discount if the installation is not perfect?

Badnews: The airbag light is now blinking. He says one of his boys can deprogram it. Fine.

GoodNews: The antennas were installed to the left of the front dash, against the window. The mic for the bluetooth was installed.

Monday, the guy is supposedly going to order the new audio cables, the freakn premium 9-speaker bose joints are not as easy to make work as you may think, in fact, one place I did an estimate with told me I'd lose some of the speakers during the install. The guy working on all this says he can make them all work...stay tuned.

More GoodNews, from all the looking around, he was able to determine that the default steering wheel controls WILL be able to control the nav unit radio...very cool.

GoodNews: He was able to install the Ipod cable in the bottom box instead of the glovebox....GREAT, although there is a hole where is comes in and it's a little ragged around the ends. Not that anybody can see it, I am going to ask that this hole is smoothed out. Hell, maybe somebody sticks there head up in there on day...lol.

So, all in all, there is hope. The car was a little dirty when I got it. The guy was more than happy to spit on his hands and wipe some of the dirt off...LORD PLEASE HELP ME...haha.

Being new to a lot of car acrobatics. Having my new baby acosted for the love of navy nav, is a tough trade out. A couple grease marks on the inside....I, of course, will point all this ish out on Monday, well, he says Monday. He also says all his parts come in overnight, yet, the rear camera was not in the building after 6 days.

Details and photos coming...

I got a headache folks!

Yeah, me too.

Today, while cleaning up the mess, I wind up cutting my damn hand on a freakn RAZOR left on the side of the pull break....not bad, but it could have been worse.

Can you say:

I'm trying to stay positive that everything will be fine in the end, but I see myself going back for the sound wiring, the buff job he never did, to install the rear camera, and to have his dude stop the airbag light from blinking.

Man, I got a headache!

I'll keep you guys posted.
