Im going to be running a Defi D-Gauge oil pressure unit, and I have a couple questions.

Theres 2 wires from the stock pressure sender unit, one goes to the lower harness, and another one goes to the stock cluster, can you run it to an aftermarket unit , I thought i heard it mentioned somewhere?

Otherwise I've already ordered a 1/8th bspt Tee, and a 1/8th female npt 1/8th male bspt. That should work right?

There are 2 types of gauges. Mechanical and Electrical. Which do you have? The parts you bought are for a mechanical gauge. You mentioned earlier that you can hook up wires and that would be for an electrical. Seeing as how they are defi gauges more than likely you have an electrical gauge. There are 2 wire off of the pressure sensor. Yellow/white is for the cluster (light) while the blue is for the gauge. Unless you used the skyline gauge cluster you have no cluster oil gauge so run your signal wire from the blue wire to the gauge.-Alex

Great, I figured that even if it was eletrical, the voltage sent could be different. That there would be a sender that defi provided which translated the pressure to voltage and then to the meter.

that was gonna be my suggestion, even if you wire it in the way pressures are sent are probably totally different. you need to use the defi sender with the gauge.

i wouldn't Tee it... unless your defi sender is mechanical, its probably that big electrical thing. two of those things gets kind of bulky. just get rid of the oem one and put in the defi. the only thing your oem one is doing for you now (assuming you connected it) is lighting up the oil press warning light. no real need for that if you have a defi gauge. the gauge prolly has a low oil warning light/buzzer of its own too.

btw the stock sender is 1/8 bspt. dont know what defi senders are, but autometers are 1/8 npt. you can use a die and cut 1/8 npt into bspt. npt is bigger.

I have the defi-d series oil pressure gauge also on my RB that I took off from my sr. It screws in fine! Just take the old bulky sensor out and throw on a little teflon for good luck and screw in. your set.

Be careful putting teflon on the threads, alot of the senders like to run ground through there!
