I researched the forums for engine idle problems, rough running, stalling and MAF problems. After reading hundreds of threads I found a common element. Many of these posts indicate they have aftermarket intake systems. I got curious about this after working on a KA24DE that had MAF problem soon after installation of an "intake". many use an oiled - air filter and I suspect this may be contributing to degrading the MAF and related EFI problems. Of course many members of this forum do have aftermarket intakes and this will skew the research but I'd like to hear from anyone with real data on this.

THANKS PB:cool:

no problems w/ aftermarket intakes, the MAF does not degrade with oiled air filters, you would need to suck in a lot of debris to damage the MAF.

only problems would be1) bad installation2) cheap filters

with after market intake, the air flows past the maf differently. look at the construction of the stock filter box. has devices to stabilize air like the filter having space between the maf.
