well, after reading some of the stuff on here, ive been wondering if anyone makes an intake manifold for the DE motor.

i noticed while driving my friend's '89 (E motor) that the power went to the redline more easily. inferior motor (less power than the DE) with a better powerband? i did notice the intake runners were shorter and the manifold looked more similar to a toyota, rather than the long runners on the DE.

being a former corolla gt-s driver i have learned to love the top-end. boy do i hate it when the DE loses it's top end in anything beyond 1st gear. ITB's would be great but i just dont have the money for a standalone.

dyno graphs with i/h/e cams & ecu even show a drop off after 6k, even if it is much more mild than with a stock motor.

answers, anyone?

i read alot of post saying people dont shift past 6gran, and the power falls off, but my E pulls the whole way to 7gran, so maybe the E is better design than DE

i find myself going to 7k alot, my power band feels great, even on a stock KA, with lil free mods.

boost designs makes one for the DE. It should be realeased by the end of this month. I think it's more for turbo cars but you could ask pj and he might be able to help you out.

The E Intake manifold flows a lot better than the DE manifold because it is a high port design where as the DE is a low port. It the same way on the CA18 and SR20. The CA's manifold just flows much better compared to the SR's.
