Hello !

I just got my Indigo Blue SL AWD w/ premium package, moonroof and leather seat 2 days ago. We fairly new to the city we live and I plan to get in dash Navi soon. Please help me decide b/c this would be my 1st time.

- My budget is under $1k - What will I lose from the factory system, i.e steering wheel control, xm/fm etc...?

I saw folks that install the Pioneer D3X and Alpine dash can you guys recommend me where to buy and who should I bring to install ? Thanx alot.

I ordered the Kenwood DNX 5120 and will be installing it next week when it arrives. It is easier to install than the Pioneer AVIC. No need to hook up the VSS and parking bypass is just as simple as tapping to the ground wire. It also includes TTS (text-to-speech) and navigation is run off internally (as opposed to DVD on AVIC-D3). I will include lots of pictures when the dash kit and the head unit arrives.

the response below was copied from another thread and works for Pioneer head units. I don't know if the Kenwood head unit I'm getting has an equivalent version:

Hint: The Rogue is not listed via the selection on the main page, but it is listed if you goto the 'Instruction Manual' link for the PESWIPS and do a search for the Rogue:

I have not tested this, but when cross referencing Peripherals wiring instructions with the FSM it does appear to be correct.

Good luck!

That looks like a good unit but the watt's per channel are not hapnin' with the Bose audio system in the premium package (I think). Also, it looks like bluetooth and iPod adapter funtion require you to buy extra pieces to make them work. BTW, some folks talking about those other units mentioned above have been tying them into a camera for backing up. Is there an optimum place for one on the Rogue and how would you put it on there (not to mention, what does one of these cameras cost)?

There is also the 7120 and the 8120. Larger screens, 8120 has bluetooth built in, but for substatially more $$$.

Most of the bluetooth reviews mention that the synch time is rather long.

There is one hard wired steering wheel converter unit that I found on amazon Not sure about hard wired, but the unniversal ones all see to use memorized remote control codes, and work slower. A bit of a hack, but then again how else do you make them universal to the head unit.

I have not found any converters for the Bose audio yet.

i gave up on the idea of putting up a camera. i think it's going to be too much work. i will probably just get the el cheapo concaved mirror that sticks on the inside of the rear window as mentioned on one of the threads here.

i had planned to mount the rear-camera on the license plate and squeeze the wires by popping off the trunk release or squeezing it by the license plate lamp. not sure if those are doable. or i can just mount the camera inside the rear window right below the 3rd brake lamp. the advantage is no cleanups and you don't risk the camera getting stolen or damaged. i think if you have 120 degree camera and no tint on your rear window, this should work out fine.

i heard about the long synch issue with the kenwood using parrot. not sure if the kenwood bluetooth adaptor paired with this HU exhibits the same problem. there is no XM adaptor available yet for this HU.

a seemingly good all-in-one unit for a low price is the Valor NVG-670w:http://www.sonicelectronix.com....html

I cannot find any solid reviews about this el cheapo unit so I rather shell out extra $200-$300 for peace of mind and reliability of a named brand.

My Kenwood HU just arrived today. I'm still waiting for my double-din dash kit.

Maybe you miss-understood. I wasn't saying the 5120 was expensive, but that the upgrade from the 5120 to the 7120 was, and the 8120 was almost twice the cost of the 5120.

I really can't afford to upgrade the radio yet and quite frankly I am sort of waiting to see what the scosche kit looks like. I have seen some reviews that call the Metra as being cheaply made.

BTW I am now seeing a seller on EBay with the metra kit and wire harness for the Rogue. I think the selling price is a bit high though.

This is the place where I bought my kit from. Fits very good but could be better and looks almost like original.http://www.installer.com/item/...-7425
