I've been looking into getting an aftermarket sound system for my car. Im getting sick of the weird treble cut-out that comes with the bass hits on the stock bose system. Does anyone know... do double DIN head units like the pioneer D3 fit in the stock dash for a 1998 I30. It looks to be the same size to me, but I want to be safe. Thanks

i looked on crutchfield.com and it says a double din will not fit. but it says it wll fit the maxima of the same year so i called a dealer and they said that both bose units ae the same... infiniti and nissan. they said they see no reason for it not to fit. so im a little lost right now. anyone have any personal experience?

Personally, I'd take a Pioneer over just about anything else. I've more luck with Pioneer than a higher end Alpine. I would definitely stay away from Dual. A lot of the cheap brands like that have some neat features in their units but they aren't all that reliable from what I've experienced.

Also, Crutchfield is pretty good about listing stuff that fits but they aren't correct 100% of the time so I wouldn't believe all of their listings.

to highlight on what mtcookson said yeah dont trust crutchfield on a lot of fitments.

As per the HU depending on what sound you want is what you should go with. In my experience of sellign systems and what not. If you want bass and music that thumps hard take a Pioneer over anythign else. If you want constant clarity and little thump depending on your bass setup go with Alpine

Pioneer = clear but made for making the bass moveAlpine= perfect for keeping clarity at high volumes and clear. Still give off some bass but not as much as Pioneer

AND STAY AWAY FROM DUAL.....lol thats like buying walgreens brand
