For weeks, I've scoured the topics here for install tips in advance of putting a new double-DIN HU in my '09 Altima and most of my questions have been answered (AppleBonker's FAQs have been especially helpful). However, there's a couple of questions that I've either haven't found a satisfactory answer to or have found no answer to at all:
1) The Metra 70-7552 wiring harness adapter has what appears to be a black chassis ground wire, but is tagged "For Subaru Only". I've checked the Metra pinout against the factory harness pinout in the '09 Altima FSM, which does not show a chassis ground in the factory harness, only the grounds for the speakers; every other wire in the Metra harness corresponds to the correct wire in the factory harness pinout. Would a aftermarket HU be properly grounded using the Metra (or equivalent) wiring harness adapter or should I run a separate ground from the HU wiring to the chassis directly, bypassing the Metra adapter and factory harness?
2) My Altima has the base stereo (non-Bose/NAV). If I get the OEM double-DIN dash kit for manual climate controls (
http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=2) instead of using the Metra kit I already have, can I use the existing radio/climate control mounting brackets from the base radio to mount my aftermarket HU?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
